3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours medium brown half finger tan head, nice thin lacing. Aroma caramel, sweet chocolate, toasted malt, slight dark fruit, brown sugar, slight earthy hops. Taste a bit roasty, slightly bitter earthy hops, caramel, burnt sugar, sweet chocolate, slightly nutty and fruity esters. Mouthfeel thicker side of medium body, lower carbonation, faint roast astringency, on the sweet side of a balanced finish. Overall tasty well made beer, complex, yet balanced, excellent example of the style, except for the higher abv, which really isn’t that detectable, strong offering from a very underrated brewery.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle pour. A solid all round brown ale. Pours a deep rich brown with a foamy head. Toasted nut on the nose, which really comes through on the palate. Smooth mouthfeel, disguises the 7% well here.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle: Fridge dweller. Dark for a brown. Almost opaque mahogany, ruby clarity when held to the light. Foamy beige-gray head leaves a sheet of lace behind. Aroma contains some toasty caramel malt, mild nuts, a touch of vanilla, & a little bit of mustiness. Hint of cocoa powder, too, maybe. Taste of earthy hops, dry must, metallic CaraMunich malts, toasted toffee, & a tiny hint of anise in the finish. Somewhat yeasty, too. It’s not bad, but many better shelf brown ales exist. A simply "okay" example of the style.
