Pours a hazy brown with 1 finger head with moderate lacing. Mild caramel malt flavor with grapefruit hop flavors. Very briefly mildly sweet then turns surprisingly bitter for a brown. Moderate carbonation and medium to full body. Medium to long bitter finish with maybe some astringency. This is very good, but not expected with the bitterness.

In mouth, a nice bitter chocolate with coffee grind, musty character, herbaceous resinous hops, light mineral notes, very nice. On tap at North Country Brewfest 2016.

Aroma is nutty, malt, slight hop, slight smoke, decent. Appearance is brown, light light tan head. Taste is nutty, slightly watery, slight smoke, malt, somewhat robust. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, nutty aftertaste. Overall, this is a pretty good Brown that I’m surprised I waited this long to try.

BOD 12/19/15. Dark brown cola like pour. Slightly below normal head volume, normal lacing and retention. Outstanding rich nose of nuts, molasses, light roast char and a hint of dark chocolate. Light medium body with a smooth texture with a few creamy hints and aspects. Superb carbonation with a fairly effervescent middle and a nice finely bubbled prickly finish. The flavor profile is quite good and rather flavorful for a brown ale. The flavors of the nose all appear with a nutty molasses serving as the base. It begins with a wave of light roast char that hints at chocolate. The middle brings a low bitterness that fades allowing a light sweetness to emerge. Here is where chocolate makes its strongest showing over a growing toasted grain influence. The finish has a hint of dryness and a slow fade of nutty charred grain.

12oz bottle. Pour into tulip glass. Lack of head is typical of brown ales. Beer appears to have some body to it. Taste is rich and sweet. Hints of roast malts, nuts and even cola. 7%abv well balanced with all the sweetness before dry aftertaste kicks in. Above average in my opinions for a brown ale. They tend not to have this much flavor. Would buy again for sure.

Drank with Thierry at my place 18-2-2016. Liked this beer. Has a rich taste, sweet aftertaste. Has more components than the average brown ale.

Bottle into tulip. Dark ruby brown almost black. Thin tan head. Nutty, malty but also slightly musty aroma. Similar taste notes but with hints of resin and hop bitterness. Dry. Ok. Would drink again but not go out of my way to track it down. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
