Pours a hazy brown with 1 finger head with moderate lacing. Mild caramel malt flavor with grapefruit hop flavors. Very briefly mildly sweet then turns surprisingly bitter for a brown. Moderate carbonation and medium to full body. Medium to long bitter finish with maybe some astringency. This is very good, but not expected with the bitterness.

The aroma of chocolate. The taste is light chocolate, cold coffee and gentle. Good bitterness in the aftertaste that fills the upper part of the mouth for a long while. Good beer indeed. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home on Friday night before a recording weekend. Not sure if I got a bunk bottle of this, because it is very carbonated. Appearance is a coffee brown with a huge frothy off white head, carbonated to the point where I had to pour four times into one glass. Aroma of caramel, malt, carbonation, not too much else. Taste is malty with a light yeast backing and chocolate/caramel notes. It’s just OK, wondering if the bottle I purchased was shaken at any point.

12 oz bottle, Ann Arbor, MI, USA. Deep almost opaque brown. Heavy roasted malt aroma, some bright citrus hops. Medium body, sweet, then a resin infused roasted coffee flavour. Long bitter finish.

Well rounded flavors of cocoa, toast, dark fruit, caramel, brown sugar and toffee. Hints of lightly roasted coffee, apples and cinnamon. Malty with an herbal aftertaste.

Pour on tap at the brewery, dark brownish black pour with tan head, aroma brought cocoa, roast, nuts, some toffee, hints of grass and herbal notes, slight red fruit. Taste was cocoa, slight red fruit into bigger nuts, some earth, dark caramel, some roast, hints of toffee, finishing fairly sweet, slightly roasted.

Really just not my style of brown ale. Very smokey and toasty quite possibly? Not too sweet at all. Good looking but this looker isn’t everything once you get inside.
