Bottle shared by a friend. Dark brown pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of bourbon, caramel, chocolate and brown sugar. Malty and chocolatey flavor with bourbon character before a warm sherry finish.

12oz bottle poured into a sample glass. The aroma is strong of port wine, and fudge brownies, with a prominent alcohol heat. The appearance is a glassy, deep, dark mahogany with a light tan head that leaves no retention or lace. The beer is highly sweet, with a medium high bitterness to it. The texture is thick and chewy with a flat carbonation and a full body. The flavor profile is that of double fudge brownie drenched in port or sherry with a finish that has the zip of a light spice and some dark, tart fruit notes. The aftertaste is mild with notes of caramel and chocolate.

Bottle from Jim. Thanks! 12/2012 A: Pure black with a couple cappuccino bubbles, lacing. N: Toffee, black licorice, whiskey, oak, vanilla and caramel, heavy prune and raisin, burnt brown sugars, and a touch of toast. Figs and more dark fruits. T: Very sweet, almost over the line of cloying, no bitterness. M: A far amount of alcohol burn, heavy oily body, very light carbonation - almost flat but not quite. O: Potent potable. It is all of its intense ABV, but it’s also quite good. But it burns like bourbon.

Shared at a tasting hosted by Steebo on February 13. The pour on this was almost like a syrup as opposed to a beer. It’s dark brown, slightly opaque, with no discernible carbonation whatsoever. The aroma is nicely balanced. Heavy dark fruits and roasted malts with a little chocolate and some light oaky bourbon. The flavor is lots of bourbon up front. Light notes of vanilla and chocolate roll through to a nice dark fruit and licorice on the back end. The mouth feel is really sticky. There is no carbonation at all, but it manages to coat the mouth and hang around. The aftertaste is lingeringly roasty and lightly sweet and boozy.

Smell is bourbon, booze, and malt. Taste is pretty much the same. Full body with no carbonation but boozy aftertaste.

500 ML black wax top Dark brown color, no head at all. Some gurgles but otherwise flat. Nose is barrel forward. Oak, bourbon, vanilla and coconut. Once opened up started getting dark fruits, chocolate, licorice and some dates. Warming nose. Starts of as a barrel bomb. Lots of bourbon, vanilla and coconut. Does drop off to berries, coffee, chocolate, licorice. Far sweeter than the normal version I felt. Very sticky in the palate. Kept thinking a dessert wine with fermentation stopped. Very sticky and sweet. Long lasting sweetness. More about fruit in back of palate. Needed the carbonation to really carry this well.

Bottle... This beer rocks!… Clear burnt-copper ale with no head. The aroma is a mélange of singed caramel, brown sugar, vanilla and dates. Full-bodied and velvety with feather-soft carbonation. The flavor offers sweet caramel, a light note of coffee liqueur and dark raisins. The flavor is malt-bomb of sweet mocha, brown sugar and dates. Finishes with a lingering, roasty bitter-sweetness. World class beer generously shared by ctipping!
