Aroma of caramel, roast chocolate, vanilla, and molasses. Pours black with a small brown film. Taste is intensely sweet with great notes of chocolate and vanilla up front and a nice roasty devils cake finish. This is a great dessert.

12oz bottle from sarro. Black with pretty much no head - just a tinge of brown around the rim. Bourbon, vanilla and oak is at the forefront but luckily with a bit of time to breath it does not overwhelm; nice roasted and sweet malts, some chocolate, bit of smoke. Full body, moderate carbonation, still hot with an initial burn but settles reasonably quickly to reveal a nice sweetness, a long finish with some bitterness, bourbon and vanilla just keep on giving. Quite tasty.

Bottle from Beerman6686. Thanks! 2011 vintage. Pours black with a thin tan foam on top that sheds spotty lacing. Strong whiffs of chocolate and bourbon invade the senses upon cracking the bottle. There’s also quite a bit of black licorice here too. Mocha, ash, wood, and a touch of molasses round out the scent. The aroma certainly shows some alcohol too. Pretty good depth. The flavor is equally as impressive, but showing some different things. An ashy charcoal mixes with caramel, strong mocha, and of course, bourbon to provide the meat of the flavor. Notes of damp wood too coming from the barrel with a bit of vanilla as well. It’s silky in the body and smooth going down. The alcohol noted in the aroma is more subtle than I was expecting. A soothing sipper for sure. Surprisingly, I don’t really pick up much black licorice, as noted so heavily in the aroma. The bottom line is this is clearly a high quality barrel-aged Imperial Stout.

Bottle in celebration of Radiohead. A great gift from Damico. Pours a black color with a soapy caramel colored head. Heavy alcohol, vanilla, and oak. Some chocolate and caramel notes. Sweet vanilla taste with that oak bite and creamy chocolate finish. Wow. What a beer.

Draft at Baker Street for the Dark Horse Brewing Co. dinner...paired with a fantastic raspberry and caramel infused brownie. Pours pitch black, very little light seeping through on the edges...nose is just ridiculous...notes of vanilla bean, candied fruits, bourbon, heavily roasted malts, some chocolate and more. Slick, oily palate...flavors follow suite for the most part, a bit of licorice coming through on the back-end...alcohol well-hidden. Fantastic stuff!!

12 oz bottle courtesy of GT2 - big thanks! Pours deep black with a small light brown head. Aroma is very bourbon forward, lots of wood and vanilla, lots and lots of chocolate, chocolate ganache, a hint of coffee and dark fruit, brown sugar, some dark berries, like blackberries - very pleasant and balanced aroma. Taste has a lot of the base beer with all it’s chocolate and brownie sweetness, and all the hard roastiness and bitter espresso notes, and the some dry oaky bourbon and vanilla notes. A nice berry quality as it warms. Sort of a salty component which compliments the sweetness and bourbon notes very well. Very different from a lot of other BA imperial stouts, and I like the saltiness. Good fucken stuff!!
