This beer is a big and full bodied Imperial Stout aged in bourbon barrels with lots of roasted malts, but very balanced with heavy hops. Brewed with a top secret root, this beer has an amazingly complex flavor that you must wait for.

Bottle at Kingcecils Birthday Tasting. Pours opague black with a creamy light brown head. The aroma is vanilla, oak, hard roasted malt, sweet ripe fruit, chocolate and light coffee. The flavour is sweet malty and has loads of bourbon oaky and vanilla notes. Sweet ripe fruit, chocolate and light coffee. Great things going on. Incredible indeed!

Bottle from trade with Rayl101. Black pour, very low head that disappears quickly. Aroma is mild, of dried fruit, chocolate, bourbon and very slight alcohol bite; nice complexity, but not sweet, heavy, or over done at all. Carbonation is soft, mouthfeel is complex. Finishes has long lingering flavor with just a bit of bitterness. This is really nice; a top notch BA Impy. A favorite.

Bottle pours pitch black and coats the glass like oil. Tan head. Heavy mouthfeel. Aroma is wood, bourbon, vanilla, and chocolate. Flavor follows the nose and has a nice chocolate note upfront, some booze, rich caramel in the middle, and finishes with a great chocolate bourbon note. This beer is simply fantastic.

A-- Poured black, settled black. Just hints of ruby in the pour and at the top of the beer. At best a dark reddish brown film. Good collar though. Very little if any head. A few carbonation bubbles but not a lot to this. A dark oily residue left with this and just a bit of spotty lacing. No ABV legs for this ABV of a beer. S-- Wow, big aggressive nose. Big, dark chocolate. Not powder but chocolate. Roasted fig or date, roasted prune, almond or walnut (the wood from the barrel) smell underneath the fruit and chocolate. Rich and thick nose full of bourbon and barrel. Heck yeah. T-- Thick liquid chocolate, followed by prune, walnut, carmel, and some small amounts of roasted almond. Bourbon is really present in this. Just a thick and rich taste. Flipping scary beer. M-- Heavy feel but lighter in the mouth than one would suspect. Carbonation?? Try again on that. Little to no carbonation. Silky smooth feel though. Alcohol is very obvious on this going down. Very oily, rich feel in the mouth. Dark, bitter chocolate is also made known in the mouth. Literally gets richer and gets more depth as work through this. Bourbon that hides as a port. Long lasting flavor that kicks ass. Wicked stuff. O-- Slow sipper is a good starting point. Big, bold balsy beer. Not for the faint one bit. Beats the heck out of most BA RIS. Worth finding. Worth savoring

Sampled at EBF. One of the few stouts I was really interested in sampling. Super dark color, very oily and thick. Aroma really jumps out at you with hints of bourbon, chocolate, vanilla and woody characters. Flavor is heavy and thick on the chocolate malt side. Definitely a sipper

12 ounce thanks to Sparky in Summer 12 Secret Santa. Carbonation slowly rises after pour to tan head. Big bourbon nose and body. Some bourbon burn in first sip. Oily and heavy. Nice.

Draft at the brewery! This is an incredible beer. The pour is opaque and the aroma is huge malt, roast and hops. Flavors are caramel, vanilla, roasted malts, bourbon and oak. Intense and complex, a beer layered with flavors that rivals any Imperial Stout out there on the market.

2011 vintage 12oz. bottle. It pours a very dark brown with a brown head. The aroma is very inviting with rich chocolate, vanilla, coffee and sweet dessert. The flavor is the same with lots of vanilla, chocolate, tobacco and coffee. The body is obviously big and full, but it’s not too syrupy and the beer remains pretty drinkable. No fusel alcohols. This is what all bourbon barrel imperial stouts should strive to be.
