This beer is a big and full bodied Imperial Stout aged in bourbon barrels with lots of roasted malts, but very balanced with heavy hops. Brewed with a top secret root, this beer has an amazingly complex flavor that you must wait for.

Bottle in celebration of Radiohead. A great gift from Damico. Pours a black color with a soapy caramel colored head. Heavy alcohol, vanilla, and oak. Some chocolate and caramel notes. Sweet vanilla taste with that oak bite and creamy chocolate finish. Wow. What a beer.

Draft at Baker Street for the Dark Horse Brewing Co. dinner...paired with a fantastic raspberry and caramel infused brownie. Pours pitch black, very little light seeping through on the edges...nose is just ridiculous...notes of vanilla bean, candied fruits, bourbon, heavily roasted malts, some chocolate and more. Slick, oily palate...flavors follow suite for the most part, a bit of licorice coming through on the back-end...alcohol well-hidden. Fantastic stuff!!

Big thanks to GT2 for bringing this. Pours black with a tiny espresso brown head. Aroma is chocolate, dark sweet fruits, vanilla, bourbony notes, earthy roasted notes, weak medicine, rather burnt, sugary sweetness and some fainted smoke. Taste is bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, dark dried fruits, dry wood, oatmeal, weak meaty, salty, burnt malts and some smoke. I like thiz!

12 oz bottle courtesy of GT2 - big thanks! Pours deep black with a small light brown head. Aroma is very bourbon forward, lots of wood and vanilla, lots and lots of chocolate, chocolate ganache, a hint of coffee and dark fruit, brown sugar, some dark berries, like blackberries - very pleasant and balanced aroma. Taste has a lot of the base beer with all it’s chocolate and brownie sweetness, and all the hard roastiness and bitter espresso notes, and the some dry oaky bourbon and vanilla notes. A nice berry quality as it warms. Sort of a salty component which compliments the sweetness and bourbon notes very well. Very different from a lot of other BA imperial stouts, and I like the saltiness. Good fucken stuff!!

Bottle thanks, GT2! pours pitch black, with a small beige head. Aroma: vanilla, oak, woody, bourbon, roasted, heaps of dried fruits, chocolate, sweet fruity, raisins, figs, plums, savory, dusty, milk chocolate, sweet liquorice, butterscotch, caramel, burnt sugar. Taste: thick and smooth, a bit tingly, you really get the bourbon, vanilla, silky, sweet liquorice, rich, dry chocolate, roasted, matroshatte, slight sugarburn, grassy, tobacco, some roasted bitterness, salty notes, savory, sweet and dry endnotes

This poured a jet black color with a very small dark tan head. Aroma was dark roasted malts, inviting dark and sweet chocolates, vanilla, some smores, and bourbon. Flavor was much the same as the aroma, only way more intense. This one is certainly up there for the best examples of how ba something the right way can make an already great beer into a masterpiece, so well balanced in flavor and hardly any alcohol burn. Amazing stuff really.

on tap at dark horse brewery...made a weekend trip up for a getaway and after looking on their website, was surprised to see Pt5 on tap. waitress brings over a snifter and after a couple sips, I wonder...walk over to the bar and, yep, it’s the bb version! pours black with a solid deep tan head leaving considerable lacing. flavor is extraordinary...bourbon is meshing near perfectly here with a nice dose of vanilla as well...scrumptious! aroma is chocolate, some rich fruits in the background, vanilla and roasted malt. palate is oily and smooth and lasts very nicely without being overly thick. what a treat...as this is one of the best bb stouts I’ve had.
