36cl, Vintage 2011, no mention of ABV, new exclusive American brew, thx to Secret Santa!, very complex Stout, roasted/alcoholic and slightly sweet/spicy, not too heavy, balanced, hazy, small head, very good Winter brew, top class!, yet very expensive!

Sampled at EBF on Saturday afternoon. Pours a solid black with a decent tan head with some retention. Smell is heavy on the bourbon with lots of chocolate and roast, and some vanilla and wood. Taste is chocolate bourbon and roast. Thick body with a creamy smooth mouthfeel and a light level of carbonation. A big thick stout, one of my favorites of the day.

(12oz bottle, 2011 vintage, courtesy of ericandersnavy) Pours an opaque black body with a spare brown head. Aroma of chocolate, fudge, roasted malt, vanilla, bourbon, and caramel. Flavor of chocolate, roasted malt, bourbon, light licorice, and caramel with a dry finish.

A Sim rate (Extreme Beer Festival, Boston): Great palate. Delicious dark chocolate but a bit too heavy on the bourbon.

This pours thick and extremely black with a thick brown mocha head. Bourbon, coffee, chocolate fudge, marshmallow, vanilla, tobacco, molasses and raisins on the nose. Vanilla, coffee, bourbon, chocolate fudge, tobacco, brown sugar, dried dark fruit and booze taste. Thick on the palate and a great long bourbon roasted finish.

UPDATED: JAN 10, 2013 Pitch black pour into a snifter. Nice thin mocha head. Nose is chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt, booze. Taste is dead on with the nose with lots of vanilla, toffee, bourbon. Non existent hop profile which is what you want in a true malt bomb like this. Very little coffee bitterness as well which really works for me. Very similar to Churchill’s Finest although a notch below. Great beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle many thanks to ICEatALAMO. Pitch black pour, tan head. Sweet milk chocolate, lots of vanilla, chocolate pudding, light bourbon barrel notes, and booze. Tasty and silky mouthfeel, but not terribly complex.

Bottle sent my way be Ksurkin, thanks Ken! Pours black with small sudsy tan head. Nose is sweet bourbon nectar, dark chocolate, banana pudding, and an overall very nice balance between the heavy roast and bourbon like I have never seen in a bourbon aged stout. Both the bourbon and the roast each have their time to shine while still melding together so excellently. It’s a little on the sweet and bourbon-y side in the flavor, but it ends bitter and roasty displaying the balance mentioned above. Tasty.

Shared by turdferguson. Pours inky black with one finger of dark chestnut brown head. Nose is rich with dark chocolate and vanilla upfront with notes of wood and molasses and a light acidity. Very rich and full flavor, lots of vanilla and bourbon with charred wood and chocolate. Hints of coffee and alcohol. Full and viscous body with a good showing of alcohol.

Bottle pours oily black with minimal tan head. Aroma bourbon with roast/malts. Taste malts, cocoa, roast, bourbon. Palate thick, not sticky or syrupy. Finish nice balance between coca/hop bitterness and bourbon. Alcohol very prominent with heavy alcohol burn.

I’m not a huge fan of the regular Plead the 5th but the bourbon adds a new dimension and really balances out some of the bitterness. Excellent beer.
