4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle, shared by Greg/John, one of them. This is a standout beer as well.. great taste with mild sweetness coming through overtop of the roast, the vanilla only briefly shows itself and the mouth feel is a big full stout letting you know this isnt for sissys.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Silver wax 12oz 2011 vintage via trade. Poured a solid black body with an average sized foamy dark mocha colored head. Aroma is probably the best quality of this beer, notes from the bourbon add a distinct vanilla and toasted coconut along with some wet cvharred wood, the beer itself has dark wet burnt toast, bad dark chocolate, dark fruit skins and a slight earthiness along with a touch of yeast. The body is silky and drinkable although it coats your mouth and has little to no carboantion. I couldn’t imagine drinking more then one of these. Flavor is far drier then the aroma with dry drak chocolate, vanilla extract, tobacco, soy, bourbon, barrel, dark toast, wax paper. Solid beer but I was expecting a little more.

3.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This bottled brew from the brew pub during rbsg #38 poured a small sized head of frothy medium sized dark brown colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque and a poor lacing. The mild aroma was dark malt. The mouth feel was tingly motor oil thick at the start with a mellow roasted malt finish. The thick flavor contained notes of roasted malt very mild bourbon and dark malt. Delicious and one I would certainly like to have again.

2011 bottle from JALE. Sweet silver wax job that really helps keep the cap in place? Oil slick pour with light cabonation and a small head. An almost meaty aroma with bourbon in the background. Nice flavor with some sweet vanilla, some bitter cold espresso and some warming booze. Tasty. My 2500th rating.

Black pour with a dark brown, dense head. Lots of coffee and nutty aromas. Sweet licorice as well. The barrel just presents itself a little on the nose. Lots of chocolate.. A little spice and plenty of depth. The mouthfeel is on the lighter side surprisingly but its still full bodied, if that makes any sense. The flavours are complex and plentyfull but this one lacks a little carbonation.. Lots of chocolate and oak spice and even a little clove and rumcake coming through. The finish is long - dry and oily at the same time.

Pour pitch black, with a huge slightly creamy dark brown head.
Aroma has plenty of coffee. Chocolate, bourbon, wood, slight vanilla, roasted malts, oatmeal, booze, slight licorice.
The taste is rather sweet upfront, with a rather heavy dose of roasted and bitter end to it.
Somewhat full bodied, with a flat carbonation. Thanks to Ryan for sending me this bad boy.

2012 vintage. 12 oz silver waxed bottle into a brandy snifter. Can’t thank Steimie enough, this was a huge want of mine!
A - Pours a thick black body with a finger of dark mocha head. After that fizzles away its quite difficult to recreate a head with a swirl. Just some splotchy lacing with some nice retention. Alcohol legs stain the sides of the glass.
S - Bourbon dipped fudge brownie is the description I would use here. Rich and gooey dark chocolate, dry cocoa powder, light espresso and coconut. Finishes with smooth oak and vanilla and warming alcohol which does comes off as a bit too distracting.
T - Starts with dark chocolate and light roasted malts. Then comes a huge wave of vanilla, oak, and butterscotch. Lighter notes of coffee beans, coconut, and dark fruits. The finish is fudge with a bit of leather. Rich and decadent, just fucking perfect!
M - Thick and coating, just a notch below syrupy. Carbonation is spot on.
O - Truly one of the best BA stouts out there. How anyone can trade this stuff after sampling it is beyond me. Compared to its major 12 oz competition, well I think I like BCBS a bit more since its a brash stout that is all about the bourbon. This beer is much more balanced with the bourbon complimenting the base beers notes. God dammit this is good stuff!

Nicely done bourbon barrel imperial stout. Nutty, anisey and sweet. Comes together really well as a slow sipper.

Pours dark brown with a small light brown head. Aromas of caramel, coffee and bourbon soaked chocolate. A very nice combination of a big rich stout with a hint of bourbon. Very well balanced. A great beer.
