2011 vintage bottle. pours a rich dark brown, with a nice ring for head. Aroma is rich with bourbon, malt, and vanilla. The taste is top notch, with smooth bourbon taste with a clean finish. One of the best BA beers out there. Takes a great beer and makes it even better.

YES! This is a bourbon barrel aged imperial stout. Aroma was outrageous with loads of vanilla oak and roast. The taste is lucious and amazingly rich and medium sweet with a dry roasty finish. Want more.

Amazing pour on this, pours pitch black with a super fine head of deep mocha that screams $12 espresso, with fine lacing rarely seen in this style. Nose is rich, roasted malt, hefty dark fudge, light bourbon that’s super well integrated, vanilla. Mouth is roasted, umami like body, not quite salty, not quite meaty, but somewhere in there, huge unsweetened dark fudge, tightly integrated bourbon that swells on the finish with some heat along with coffee beans and more unsweetened dark chocolate. Feel is thin, really the big detractor here is the craftsmanship is great otherwise.

Awesome bourbon flavors, very close to hill farmstead Damon. Big corn notes and vanilla from the bourbon. The base beer handles this well. Awesome!

12oz Bottle. Thanks so much Sean for sharing the rarity. Big bourbon and roast umami nose. Lots of vanilla and the cherry-pit-like aspect I attribute to the oak barrel. I always enjoy it when it shows up in the aroma. Tight, creamy, and complex. Not really and rough edges. I think the barrel presence is a little strong, but it works in there pretty well. The snappy, bittersweet roast edge is really satisfying. I think this is up there just behind the best of the best of barrel-aged imperial stouts. I appreciate the lack of sweetness and dry, sharp finish. Warming.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: SEP 2, 2013 Date: March 14, 2012 Mode: Bottle Source: mibirder Description: Opaque black with minimal head in the pour (slight light brown head formed when swirled) and spotty lacing. Aroma was roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla and bourbon. Taste was roasty, cheap bourbon, bitter chocolate, some vanilla at start, woody/oak and dry chalky finish/after taste. Smooth and medium to full bodied. Thanks Sean!
September 2, 2013 - rerate as part of a blind tasting with BCS, KBS, Black Note and CW BBS. Moved this up to a 9 in taste and 18 overall to get me at 4.4.

UPDATED: MAY 26, 2012 2011 silver cap. Pours a jet ink black with darker tan head. Smell is the highlight. Sweet vanilla cream, bourbon soaked oak, sweet rich toffee. With some lactose thickness. Taste is still beautiful. Rich dark chocolate milk with smooth vanilla bourbon. Bitter but smooth. Faint dark fruits. Thick and sloshy. Finish lovely but still a bit hot.

Pour from a bottle thanks to Kan. The color is ink black and opaque. Nice mocha head. Smell off the top is of roasted malt and coffee. Really smooth and rich on your palate. Flavors are complex of cocoa, toasted malt, coffee, bourbon, and oak. The beer is very well balanced without being a bourbon bomb. Also the beer finishes balanced and somewhat dry and no syrupy sweet characteristics. Really liked this beer.

(12oz bottle thanks to ericandersnavy) jet black pour with sparse soapy tan edge bubbles. Nose of fudge, bourbon, vanilla, dark chocolate, quite rich. Taste of rich chocolate, fudge, alcohol, bourbon, vanilla, huge flavor, linger is huge and long.
