COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is a big and full bodied Imperial Stout aged in bourbon barrels with lots of roasted malts, but very balanced with heavy hops. Brewed with a top secret root, this beer has an amazingly complex flavor that you must wait for.

Jet black color with brown head. Aroma smells of roasty chocolate. It is very smooth going down where you can taste the same with hints of bourbon. Very enjoyable.

Initial is sweeter, cocoa and caramel, toffee, roasty malts, vanilla, a chocolate chip cookie or brownie feel. The bourbon is lighter, a touch warm, roasty and dry finish. The sweet and roast are interesting. Very rich and big, a good cigar beer. Sweet and roasty, the only 4 months of bourbon gives it a subtle kiss.

12 oz bottle, 2013 edition (11%), from an IP trade with Richiesd, thanks ! Pours a pitch black color, oily. Brown head, short retention. Aroma’s: bourbon, booze/alcohol, chocolate. Retronasal even more chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, alcohol. Flavor is rather sweet, lots of chocolate, alcohol. Medium bodied. Long finish, boozy, roasty. The regular Plead was nice, but this is much better.

The bourbon is lighter, a touch warm, roasty and dry finish. The sweet and roast are interesting. Very rich and big, a good cigar beer. Sweet and roasty, the only 4 months of bourbon gives it a subtle kiss. Very nice. Even with all the odds stacked against it at the summerfest (Hot, humid weather and constant sweating), this was an improvemtn over a base that I admittedly wasn’t crazy about.

On tap at MBGSF 2010; guess I’m the first one to get to enter a review. Pours a dark brown with a tan ring for a head. Aroma is bourbon primarily, with lots of brown sugar, dark fruits, and cocoa. Flavor is again bourbon-led with cocoa, brown sugar, and dark fruit. Very nice.

Sampled on tap at GABF 2014. Pour is viscous/oily black with a frothy brown head and sticky lacing. Big chocolate, roasty, heavy bourbon, coconut, brown sugar, toffee, brownies, and vanilla in the aroma. Taste is espresso, brownie batter, coconut, toffee, some wood, dark chocolate, vanilla, leather, and toasted malt. Slick mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Extremely rich caramel chocolate cake. Delicious!

Pours an opaque, very dark brown with a rich red-brown-tan colored head. The head falls way too quickly. Otherwise, I could’ve stared at it for a long time and be pleased. Oak, light bourbon, sweet vanilla, dark caramel, and coconut aromas. Viscous and chewy. Some alcohol warmth comes through. The aromas are noted in the flavors they blend so smoothly and remarkably. A masterpiece of a beer.

Smell is bourbon, chocolate, and slight alcohol. Taste is the same. Light to medium carbonation with medium body.

12oz bottle with 11% ABV printed on label. Pours dark black with a creamy tan head. Oily thick mouthfeel. Lots of flavors going on with this one which change as it warms. Dark fruits, chocolate, coffe, licorice, cherry, bourbon. Very complex. Great impy.
