Itís not as heavy bodied and malty as many IPAís, in contrast the palate is more crisp and dry. If you consider yourself a "hop-head" you owe it to yourself to grab this beer.

Thanks to my Secret Santa for this one. Had it back to back with the Barley Island Barfly IPA and this just didnít stand up. Aroma was nicer. Grassy hops all the way with just a hint of grapefruit. Pour was a cloudy dark orange with no head. A little too sweet for me. The hops seem to take the back seat. They are there, but not strong enough. Too little carbonation also. Good but not more.

Poured a hazy dark color with a white head that lasted a while. The aroma was citrus, floral and hoppy. The flavor was very hoppy with a dry finish. I suppose it was OK for an IPA, Iím just not a fan of the style.

NorCal tasting July 07 - Iím wondering if this beer is a bit old, because there was some oxidation creeping into it in both aroma and taste. Even with that, this beer still was very tasty. Nose was caramel sweet with a good helping of piney goodness. Appearance was a burnt orange color, nice head (always did appreciate a darker IPA for some reason). Mouthfeel was smooth, yet lively enough to notice. The one-two punch of hops and malts were nice but a bit too much alcohol crept into the taste which was a bit of a downer (esp. for only a 6%íer). Overall I did enjoy this beer and look forward to more Dark Horse beers.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a cloudy honey color with white floaties throughout. The medium off white head was mostly lasting and left a coating on the glass. The aroma was sweet caramel and very citrusy. The flavor has strong bitterness and prevalent caramel maltiness. Medium to medium-full bodied that goes down smoothly. The floaties did not seem to affect the flavor as this is a solid IPA.

Growler from pub. Hazy golden pour with thick off-white head. Smells of mango, citrus, hops. Big hop presence in taste with a bitterness that builds upon itself. Smooth citrus flavors. Dry bitter finish. Very good beer.

12oz bottle. Aroma is heavy hopps with flower, citrus, and herbal notes. Large creamy off-white head that mostly diminished and left good lace. Murky body with an average amount of tiny particles. Medium orange/amber hue. Flavor is crispy bitters with an average finish. Palate is light/medium body with a watery texture and soft carbonation. Good aroma, great look, decent palate, but the dry bitterness overpowers any other flavors. Good brew but too one dimensional.

Bottle. Pours a medium amber with a very thick head. Nose is citrus and hoppy. Flavor was big hops with a bitter, dry finish. Very full-bodied IPA. I was really enjoying this one, but iunfortunately it was getting a bit tiresome with the bitterness becoming somewhat tediious. However, a all-in-all real good IPA. Thanks to lewis13 for this one.

Bottle - Nice white head with good lacing. Dark Golden Hazy unfilltered appearance. Deep woodsy grassy flavor. Wow, this beer was very easy to drink. They donít get much more crisp. One of the best beers Iíve had this summer. The brewer at the Dark Horse deserves a pat on the back for this one.

Bottle: Hazy copper, nice off white head and lots of lacing. Nose of bright citrusy pine and wood. The flavor is yeast with a nutty malt overtone and a nice bitter spicy balance. Still a bit overgrassy and dry in the finish.
