It’s not as heavy bodied and malty as many IPA’s, in contrast the palate is more crisp and dry. If you consider yourself a "hop-head" you owe it to yourself to grab this beer.

Enjoyed on tap in a shaker glass. The beer pour a light copper color, with a low off-white head. The outstanding quality of this beer seemed to be a relative lack of hop "punch," both in the aroma and palate. Hops were evident, but both of the aforesaid seemed quite tame in comparison to the best examples of the style. Aromas of herbal and floral west coast hops come through, followed by an assertive bitterness. However, the beer lacked the resiny, flavorous hop presence that separates average IPAs from great ones, especially those portending to be of the "West Coast" variety. The general character seemed more of an APA than IPA. Overall, certainly not a flawed beer, but relatively lacking in assertiveness.

"eh. a drinkable session ipa, but the somewhat vibrant aroma misled us into thinking the flavor would be more than it was. well balanced with slight citrus hops and a little bitterness. "

Bottle to pint glass. Within a month of bottling so definitely fresh. Great hop forward aroma with lots of citrus. Good taste earthy citrus and a touch of malt. A really nice ipa. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(Rating #5778)

Pours a cloudy orange amber. Strongly carbonated with a lumpy cream head. Solid traditional hops aroma. Thick mouthfeel with an approachable traditional hops taste. Fades off into citrus hops aftertaste on a moderately sticky mouthfeel.

Pours a hazy amber orange with a mild foam head that laces my glass. The aroma is malty with a noticeable sweetness. The hops are of resin, pine, and citrus scents with pleasant boozy notes. As for flavor I picked up on defined malt character with a soft sugary additive taste. The sweet malty blend combats the booze intensity with the help of a medium bitterness that lingers in the after taste. I also enjoyed the yeast selection, I feel it brought out a citrus character in tasting. Overall I ebjoyed this brew. I’ve been drinking this for a few years, it was about time the crooked tree got rated. Cheers.

330 ml bottle from Domus Birrae. Sunrise orange, pretty clear, with a small, creamy and persistent white head. On the nose citrus and soapy hops, a hint of caramel and nuts, some bubblegum and mint. Taste pretty much follow suite. Pleasently fruity and moderately bitter, really balanced caramel malts backbone. Slightly warming and dry aftertaste. Average carbonation, medium body, creamy texture. Decent but probably past its prime IPA.

355ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours clear amber, thin off-white head. Aromas of resin and pine, US hoppy max. Taste is sweet at first, crystal malt, caramel, then a big wallop of hop bitterness. Oily texture. Good.

Pours a hazy dark copper with a meringue like off white head that has great retention and good lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, pine and wood with some marmalade sweetness. Taste is very similar to the aroma with citrus and a woody and piney flavor. Has a moderate earthy bitterness and a fair amount of malt backbone and sweetness that pegs this as a Midwest IPA. Still finishes mostly dry with a smooth piney bitterness. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. A really good and balanced IPA that is drinkable and flavorful.
