Have you read the description for the regular Crooked Tree yet? Well this beer is almost the same just double. We actually took the Crooked Tree recipe and doubled all of the ingredients except the water, just the way a DOUBLE should be made. Big hops balanced with tons of malt give this beer a huge body. Although this beer is as cool as "the Fonz" when first purchased, it gets really mellow and smooth with some age. After a year or two stored in a cool dark place you'll notice the heavy caramel and malt flavors are trying to sneak past the hops, they’re just not fast enough. This beer is hugely delicious so it will need your undivided attention (the chores can wait....trust us). 98 IBU's

Aromas are all hops, with a variety of hop aromas - flowers, perfume, pine and spruce. Malt presence is pretty subdued - just a mild bread/cereal aroma. Color is a medium amber, with some cloudiness; the head is small and pretty white. The body is medium to full; there is a very apparent high alcohol presence; carbonation is average and the finish is long, floral and bitter. There is a moderate to heavy sweetness; I presume due to the alcohol level. The bitterness level is quite high. Overall this is a quite good beer. It is a very classic Imperial IPA. Lots of hop flavors and bitterness. I like the variety of hop aromas. It’s powerful with a sweet alcohol wallop. As with many Imperial IPAs this one is fairly one dimensional - a real hop bomb without much too balance the hops.

Bottle 33cl, kindly shared by Calisky. A cloudy orange amber beer with medium head. Nose is intense on hops resin, quince and toasted malt. Aroma is on toasted malt, blond caramel, very fruity on apple, orange, quince, very bitter, coconut wood, melon, caramel, white grapes, feeling of an US barley wine . Heavy bitter finish with still resin and fruit skin notes.

First of all, and I never mention this although I should start, the bottle art is awesome. 12 oz bottle from a four pack. Head is wet and white. Color is burnt orange almost red. Carbonation noticeable in the glass. Strong tropical fruit on the nose, pineapple kiwi and a touch of resin. Very pleasant. Taste is really good. Hop with a nice amount of malt. Define pineapple but the sweetness is really well balanced by the malt which is somewhat unique in the ipa game. I may do what the brewer suggests and age one or two bottles.

Bottle from Bruisin? Ales. Resin and juicy tropical fruit aroma. Quite sweet (not surprising for 12% ABV) but balanced out with a big bitter punch. Caramel and raisin notes as well as citrus hops. Boozy finish. Delicious.

Another share thanks to Willrunforbeer. Orange Amber color with very slight head. Aroma shows a thick amount of bready malt, orange marmalade and mild citrus tones.

The alcohol is really mellow for an over 12% ABV the bitterness really nice and lingering. The malt and hop bitterness is a really nice balance. The balance is tits!!

One of the hoppiest iPas I have had lately. Strong malt backbone on this one. Pours deep orange almost brown in color. Very bitter and hoppy bite. Smells dank and hoppy. Had out of a bottle at home ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a murky copper into Leffe glass. This is my first exposure to Dark Horse and the store only limited one four pack per customer. Figured it had to be good… and it is. Really dense, sticky and hoppy. Pine and citrus with a syrupy caramel backbone. A bit hot on the palate and a very long bitterness lingers. Also has an ’earthy’ finish. Very appetizing.
