Have you read the description for the regular Crooked Tree yet? Well this beer is almost the same just double. We actually took the Crooked Tree recipe and doubled all of the ingredients except the water, just the way a DOUBLE should be made. Big hops balanced with tons of malt give this beer a huge body. Although this beer is as cool as "the Fonz" when first purchased, it gets really mellow and smooth with some age. After a year or two stored in a cool dark place you'll notice the heavy caramel and malt flavors are trying to sneak past the hops, they’re just not fast enough. This beer is hugely delicious so it will need your undivided attention (the chores can wait....trust us). 98 IBU's

Wow. 13% is no joke! This is a powerhouse of a beer. You definitely feel the hops and the high octane.

Pours a bit murky orange with minimal head. Caramel and toffee aromas with some resinous/earthy hops. Big bold palate, big chewy malts at first, then a generous bitterness hits the palate, very earthy, coffeeish, and lasts for a good while into the finish. Big, bad ass brew, that I quite enjoyed as a night cap.

Bottle. My bottle said 12 per cent not 13.6 per cent. Clear and golden with as you would expect a reasonable presence of hops but amazingly they dont overpower. So easy to drink that it was quite frightening.

A: Deep Amber Hue, Passes Mild Light, Off White Head, Minimal Lacing S: Boozy, Sweet Malts, Mild Piney T: Boozy, Caramel, Sweet Malts M: Decent Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Mildly Sweet, Mildly Drying Overall, this is more of a barleywine than a DIPA, boozy taste, not impressive to the style but a good beer.

The Double Crooked Tree pours a cloudy deep amber color with a beige bubbly beige head that leaves decent lacing. The aroma is full of caramel and spruce. The flavor jumps on you with the sweet caramel getting to you first then a mix of floral spruce and citrus hops smash through. Overall this is a delicious brew.

UPDATED: MAR 27, 2014 Pours dark amber with nice 2 finger off white head. Some good lacing. Aroma is very one-dimensional - Piney, resinous with very little fruit. Taste is primarily caramel malt and alcohol . Not well balanced at all. Almost a medicinal sickly sweet taste. A chore to drink to be honest. Very little hoppiness. What there is, is indecipherable. Distinctly unremarkable.

Pours a three finger cream head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Cloudy amber color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Grapefruit hop nose and flavor is grapefruit and caramel, high ABV is hidden. Decent DIPA. Pricey at $5.99 for a 12oz bottle from Julio’s Liquors Marlboro, MA.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks DSG. Pours orange hazy with a huge head, aroma of tropical fruits, peach, apricot, mango, marmalade, flavor is sweet with honey, caramel, grapefruit and tangerine, medium to full bodied
