Have you read the description for the regular Crooked Tree yet? Well this beer is almost the same just double. We actually took the Crooked Tree recipe and doubled all of the ingredients except the water, just the way a DOUBLE should be made. Big hops balanced with tons of malt give this beer a huge body. Although this beer is as cool as "the Fonz" when first purchased, it gets really mellow and smooth with some age. After a year or two stored in a cool dark place you'll notice the heavy caramel and malt flavors are trying to sneak past the hops, they’re just not fast enough. This beer is hugely delicious so it will need your undivided attention (the chores can wait....trust us). 98 IBU's

Cloudy reddish brown. Aroma and taste are very boozy. Hops in the finish but overall are kind of lacking for a double IPA.

12oz bottle. Good double ipa but could use a little more hops in my opinion. The alcohol is covered up very well, can’t really tell that it’s 12% so it will sneak up on you

Double crooked tree on tap at the Beer Trappe (Lexington, KY). Medium amber with excellent clarity and a large, bone-colored, durable head. Excellent coating of foam gets left on the glass. Remarkably sweet up front, but there’s a load of hops in here and it turns moderately bitter by the finish. Complex hop mix give off a mostly herbal and fruity aroma but are herbal, piney and floral in the mouth, and a bit earthy in the aftertaste. Some citrus too. Feel: medium body and carbonation. O: a hop bomb for hop heads, particularly if a lower level of bitterness is desired.

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home on April Fools Day while watching the Heat. This stuff is pretty damn good. Appearance is a gorgeous ruby red with a rich white head that rims around the glass, looks rather vibrant. Aroma is pretty sweet with nice caramel malt / syrupy notes, along with a great hop profile and sweet honey. Taste goes down with caramel syrup and hop flavor, it’s really hoppy without being really bitter, other ratings state fruit notes (peach) and I agree. As well, the ABV of this is surprising while tasting this. Really is a nice DIPA.

On tap at the abbey. Pours brown with a reddish tiny. Aroma is boozy as fuc&. Flavor is ripped up sweet booze and dry hops. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
