COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Have you read the description for the regular Crooked Tree yet? Well this beer is almost the same just double. We actually took the Crooked Tree recipe and doubled all of the ingredients except the water, just the way a DOUBLE should be made. Big hops balanced with tons of malt give this beer a huge body. Although this beer is as cool as "the Fonz" when first purchased, it gets really mellow and smooth with some age. After a year or two stored in a cool dark place you'll notice the heavy caramel and malt flavors are trying to sneak past the hops, they’re just not fast enough. This beer is hugely delicious so it will need your undivided attention (the chores can wait....trust us). 98 IBU's

Pours a deep cloudy amber/light brown with cream head into 12 oz snifter. Sweet/cirtus nose with toffee/creamy malt nose. Bitter on the tongue with sweet/lgith caramel taste. Bit of alchohol burn with a nice malty blend. Defintley a warmer as it goes down. Really great parts but needs a bit more of a blend to turn this good beer into a great one.

Reddish brown, small white head. Lemon and orange, vanilla and cinnamon. Medium body and carbonation, smooth mouth feel. Orange and light pine, malt is rich vanilla caramel and cinnamon. the high alcohol isn’t noticeable.

Bottle. Pours a darker brown color with a reddish tinge and a smallish off-white head. Nose is quite hoppy, with some slight floral elements to it. Taste is a bit of bitterness, but is balanced well with some malty sweetness in there. The nose is much better than the taste, in my opinion, but still a solid DIPA.

Bottle pour amber with copper tones. Nose of dank hop and syrupy caramel. Taste of sweet caramel and bitterness, but lacking in aromatic hop and flavoring hop for my preferences.

ryecatcher (349) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 19, 2013
Bottle (2013 edition, 12% ABV) Pours a caramelly cloudy copper color, thick pour minimal head. Nose is malty and tropical fruit (mainly pineapple), some pine pitch. Mouth is full and sticky, malt and resinous hops up front, then some caramel and bitterness, finishes warm but kinda weak for a beer with this much body. Good, but not outstanding.

Bottle from The Bottle Shop, Canterbury. Hazy deep reddish brown with some floaters. very thin head. Strong toffee aroma. Some hop. It’s sweet syrupy and hoppy, alcohol comes through later but not as a warmth. Just not a very subtle double ipa. Too sweet too much toffee. OK hop on finish. Bit boozy. Gets you drunk but not a great beer.

Kind hoppy, but the hops really dont jump out at me the way id expect for something this big. very malty, malt balances out most of the hops, pretty smooth concidering the high abv. I’ll pass on this one going forward.

From a bottle, thanks Ben! Aroma is malt, resin, and pine hops. Taste is very bitter at first, but dies down just a little. Hopheads rejoice! I need a little more sweetness.

This beer is really good. Orange, vanilla and malts but super good. Fuck, this is almost 14% abv? I could hammer 5 of these. Super smooth, well-balancedand good.
