3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Bestway.
Pour: Amber with red hue. Frothy beady collar of foam.
Aroma: Gnarly piney oak nose.
Taste: Hops pushed forward by the dense oily caramel malts. Interesting mouth feel. Thick to the palate. Alcohol evident throughout the tasting.
Overall: An interesting experiment, kind of like dropping a huge engine in a perfectly fine car. Too complex IMHO. An assault on the senses. An ok DIPA, but just too much going on to be a fav.

Frothy head and murky gold color with a citrus hop flavor. Not too bitter long finish. Firkin cask at global brew.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Had a glass on tap as part of a flight at Ashley’s in Ann Arbor. Definitely a big boy, but fairly balanced. Delicious.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Always loved the regular crooked tree and this double is a very good Imperial IPA. Complex hoppy taste and maltiness hides the high ABV. Well done!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a dark caramel and orange color witg a cream colored white head. Aroma is heavy malt caramel sweetness, and fruity hops come through, overripe mango, some peach and bits of pine. Taste is also heavy with caramel flavors, again with overripe mango, peaches and pine, some bitterness that hangs for a minute. Abv is dangerously hidden. Good brew

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Blood orange pour with cream colored head. Lots of pine and citrus on the nose. Pine and grapefruit dominate the taste with some sweetness and citrus and a big malt body. Medium body light carbonation. Dangerous because of hidden ABV. Good stuff.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a cloudy amber red color with very minimal head. Aroma is strong caramel and mild citrus. Flavor is very sweet with very strong caramel and mild hop bitterness. Finishes very sweet.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Aroma is sweet fruit, pineapple, grapefruit, honey, then piny. Appearance is burnt orange, off white head. Taste is balanced between sweet and piny, rather dangerous as I cannot detect the booze whatsoever. Mouthfeel is sticky, soft, nice. Overall, I wanted more in the flavor department based off the smell but this is very good anyway.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft at Logan's Alley - pours a deep gold . Huge pine and citrus aromas . Taste brings lots of grapefruit and a piney bite. 2014 vintage is well balanced and alcohol is hidden compared to years past . Hard to beat this DIPA .

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a stemmed La Fin Du Monde glass.
The color is a dark amber/maroon with a finger and a half foamy off-white head and some nice lacing left on the glass.
The smell is hoppy with some interesting malt background. There is some interesting fruity aromas that come out in big beers like this. An orange and grapefruit aroma that is sweet and sour at the same time.
The taste is so sweet with a malty flavor I have to stop in my tracks and pry the different flavors apart. There is a grapefruit flavor that is sweet ad sugary and is so sweet it takes on a sugary mass of flavor with some slight orange and other citrus flavors as it makes up the tent-pole of this beer. There is a sugary flavor that is holding in the hoppy bitterness and keeps it from taking over. This beers flavor is turned up to eleven.
The feel of this beer is big, there is a whole lot of beer here and it is nothing to toy with. Some truly great back-end flavors and a nice slap on the back from the ABV is there to say hello. A beer with a smooth feel and a big kick.
