COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Have you read the description for the regular Crooked Tree yet? Well this beer is almost the same just double. We actually took the Crooked Tree recipe and doubled all of the ingredients except the water, just the way a DOUBLE should be made. Big hops balanced with tons of malt give this beer a huge body. Although this beer is as cool as "the Fonz" when first purchased, it gets really mellow and smooth with some age. After a year or two stored in a cool dark place you'll notice the heavy caramel and malt flavors are trying to sneak past the hops, they’re just not fast enough. This beer is hugely delicious so it will need your undivided attention (the chores can wait....trust us). 98 IBU's

Drinking this as I post (12 oz bottle)......this is no pretender, a double IPA just the way it should be/ resinously hoppy in aroma and taste up front. Amber with a slight haze and thin wht head with modest lacing. medium body with a long bitter finish. This is the definition of a delicious imperial IPA.

Pour is a very murky dark amber color with a light tan head. Very hoppy, piney nose, lots of floral bitterness and some mango and bready malt notes. Piney hop bitterness up front on the taste, lots of sweet malt like caramel, mango, ripe banana, floral hops and a touch of citrus. Medium boded, you’d never know there was so much alcohol. Drinks more like a barleywine, and it’s quite delicious.

Bottle @ Home, Courtesy of Jeff, Thanks! Pours slightly hazy dark orange with a creamy offwhite head. Aroma of malt, caramel, light biscuit, rich fruity hops, peach, grass, pine. Flavor is malt, some caramel, fruity hops, peach, graefruit, piney, resinly hops. Medium body, soft carbonation, notes of alcohol is there, but well hidden for the ABV. 250513

Bottle. 5/25/13. Pours a cloudy red-orange with a fluffy off-white head. Aroma is pine, citrus, grass, caramel, spice, fruit, boozey. Taste is HUGE, highly flavorful; booze, explosion of hops, citrus, pine, grass, floral, some earthiness, caramel; incredible flavor profile. I’m surprised at the 98 IBUs. I’m very impressed with this. Beautiful lacing. Nice, chewy but light mouth feel. Medium-high carbonation. This is outstanding.

On tap at Railroad Bar and Grill. Pours a murky, sludgey yellow/brown. Ech. Aroma of citrus and booze, but mild booze. Mouthfeel is thick, but lighter than I’d expect for a 13% IIPA. Actually very drinkable for the size. Bit too much carbonation. Taste is hardcore citrus. Grapefruit, orange, lime, pineapple, zest, pith and all. Mildly warm, but not hot for a 13%. Actually, pretty easy to drink without being too heavy or syrupy. Good beer, probably better than the rating would suggest.

Dark reddish orange amber. Small creamy off-white head diminishing to a soapy retention. Aroma is thick malt, hops, dark fruity, caramel, grapefruit - sweet. Flavor adds some spiciness. Medium to full body. Sticky to creamy. Mellowed hop bitter finish with Pleasant alcohol warming. Definite barley wine qualities.

Strong aroma-malts, dark fruit, caramel, hops. Grapefruit. Strong flavor, but remarkably light and smooth. Hops, grapefruit, ends a bit bitter, with an alcohol warming effect..

Wow, I love this beer. It is what a IPA (or double IPA) should be. It will kick your ass and you will say, "Thank you sir may I have another." The answer its, "hell no, you are worthy". Wwwell, the truth is with a 13.6 ABV one is all you need. The color is not so good. A bright translucent orange. So what, it is a great beer.

I had this at Global Brew. This is very hoppy. I thought this was pretty good. I would drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
