COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Have you read the description for the regular Crooked Tree yet? Well this beer is almost the same just double. We actually took the Crooked Tree recipe and doubled all of the ingredients except the water, just the way a DOUBLE should be made. Big hops balanced with tons of malt give this beer a huge body. Although this beer is as cool as "the Fonz" when first purchased, it gets really mellow and smooth with some age. After a year or two stored in a cool dark place you'll notice the heavy caramel and malt flavors are trying to sneak past the hops, they’re just not fast enough. This beer is hugely delicious so it will need your undivided attention (the chores can wait....trust us). 98 IBU's

Bottle at the Local Pub, Halandri, Athens. Aroma: Pungent hoppy aroma dominates. (It hit me like a slap while opening the bottle and while pouring) Loads of caramel, phenols, spices, orange peel and resin. Seriously good. Mouthfeel: Big mouthfeel and sticky texture. Taste: Very potent and rich. Firm bitterness and an big malty base. Warming (13% Abv+) and syrup. Very, very strong fruity (figs?) and piney hops. Finish: Warm, dry, astringent. A long, phenolic aftertaste. Overall: Exceptionally good.

Dark Horse Double Crooked Tree is a rich red amber clear brew with a firm head of tan bubbles. lively carbonation. Nose is crisp, slightly sweet, strong with floral and evergreen hops. Taste is lightly sweet with a bit of a clover honey taste. body is fluid but lively. a bit of hops on the finish. a very nice beer. not nearly as hoppy as the nose advertises, but that isn’t a bad thing as all.

Bottle from Malts Attacks. Murky orange-amber, small off-white head.aromas marmalade, hops, orange zest in chocolate, plums, honey, even hints of coffee - as if a cross between imperial ipa and imperial stout. Taste goes in the same direction; bitter-sweet, long hoppy finish. Very special, complex beer.

Bottle, 12% abv. Appearance is amber, fairly murky, a small white head which quickly disappears. Aroma- pineapple, grapefruit, mango, hints of apple, caramel and toffee sweetness, hop resin. Taste- fruity, orange peel, bitter hops, fairly full in the mouth- bready malt, hint of caramel sweetness, fairly sticky finish, with some alcohol burn. Pretty good.

Aroma of a sweet late harvest reisling with some oregeno-ish hops. Appears hazy orange-gold with white foam and lace. Tastes of bitter grape skin, sweet reisling, an some sappy pine resin on the end. Palate is fizzy and thick. Overall, very reisling, the the alchohol is very hidden, nice!

Aromas are all hops, with a variety of hop aromas - flowers, perfume, pine and spruce. Malt presence is pretty subdued - just a mild bread/cereal aroma. Color is a medium amber, with some cloudiness; the head is small and pretty white. The body is medium to full; there is a very apparent high alcohol presence; carbonation is average and the finish is long, floral and bitter. There is a moderate to heavy sweetness; I presume due to the alcohol level. The bitterness level is quite high. Overall this is a quite good beer. It is a very classic Imperial IPA. Lots of hop flavors and bitterness. I like the variety of hop aromas. It’s powerful with a sweet alcohol wallop. As with many Imperial IPAs this one is fairly one dimensional - a real hop bomb without much too balance the hops.
