MrChris (110), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA Jan 6, 2008 Wow! Thick’n fruity nose. Definitely unfiltered. Golden orange in color. Decent carbonation without any head. Pour this stuff very carefully to eliminate dumping the half-inch of sludge in to your glass. This brew is scary to look at, but is a complex ale with an intriguing flavor. Filtered the dead yeasties with my teeth. Thick caramel fruitiness, warm dry ending. Some bitters in between. Frothy without too much carbonation.
laguerita (85), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jan 7, 2009 Lots of really great hop flavor with a nice balance of malts. A good sweetness that doesn’t overwhelm. nice dark amber color. KimJohansen (5208), Copenhagen V, Denmark Dec 22, 2008 Hazy amber with medium beige head. Hoppy aroma with grapefruit and pine notes. Serious hoppy flavour with with grapefruit and pine notes. Finsihed dry and bitter. Lovely! riversideAK (1946), Shoreline, Washington, USA Dec 16, 2008 Super sweet barley wine like nose. Some citrus and floral hops, but the malts are the ambassador in the nose of this one. Hops come through in the form of tangerine and orange. Orange gold pour with a thinnish head. THe flavor is also very malty. Lots of caramel. Some not so fresh hops. Notes of flowers, tobacco, and some oranges. The flavor is almost sickly sweet and solvent like to me. Long piney finish lingers after the alcohol and sweetness decides to take off. MiP (6723), Flensburg, Germany Dec 7, 2008 Bottle, 13.6%. Very caramelly aroma. Cloudy dark amber colour. Good caramelly and sweet vanilla flavour. Nicely sweet and spicy, oak and cigarbox. Mellow dried fruit flavour, very pleasant. BigBang (173), Indiana, USA Dec 4, 2008 Drain pour. This was so syrupy and malty that I could not drink it. Hops were there. Aroma was heavy malt and then hops. There is no balance - reminded me of some form of old fashioned medicine. I love DIPAs [Pliny, Port 15, Dreadnaught, Ruination, etc.] but this one is so extreme that it goes over the edge.
