2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Draft during beer week. Lifeless cloudy brown pour with no head or lacing that stood around. Not good, malty, where is the hops. Notes of hay, light pine, and biscuits. Bland and dull all around. These are getting worse somehow.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Horizontal throw down between siblings: Dark Horse Artic Dekoorc Eert (Citra), F.F. Dekoorc Eert (Falconer’s Flight), Edacsac Dekoorc Eert (Cascade)... and Crooked Tree are a base reference (and re-rate):
Appearance Served in Duval snifters: As expected all the same with a golden hue, clean, fading frothy head, spotty lace. FF seemed to have slightly better head retention, and the CT best head retention of all (All four get a 3)
Aroma: Artic has moderate tropical character with some light catty dank notes, biscuity and yeast esters. The most forceful of the aromas but the dankness is what puts it behind the Cascade driven Edacsac (7). FF has juicy fruit gum note along with some herbal overtones, bready and slightly peppery. Sort of weak nose and nondescript (6). Edacsac has moderate citric overtones with grassy notes along with displaying more pale grains than the other two. (8) Crooked Tree has more straightforward bitter with a hint of citrus and tropical notes along with a hint of metallic vapours. (7)
Taste: Artic is oniony and alpha acid driven with some mango, peach and grains of paradise. (6) FF is twangy pear and apple like fruit notes with a lovely grassy and herbal center. Get a bit more malty notes with the FF than the Artic. (7) Edacsac is grapefruit rind, dragonfruit and moderate pepper with a slight metallic earthy finish. (8) The CT is more like the Edacsac than the other two, PNW citrus, some white pepper, garlic and onion is there too but much less than the Citra hopped. (7)
Palate: The differences are slight with the finishes being the only noticeable thing, Has mentioned above the Cascade Edacsac is slightly metallic (3), the Citra Artic is slightly astringent and more spicy (3), the Falconer’s Flight FF is cleaner and dryer (4) and the base Crooked Tree is quite metallic and even minerally (3).
Overall Interesting but as I expected I like the Edacsac the most, more balance profile and I liked the FF the least with a muddled hop profile... just like when I have used these hops when I homebrewed. I unlike most am not a fanboi of single hopped Citra beers and this reinforced that. (Artic 13, FF 11, Edacsac 14, CT 13)

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Another bottle from the IPA-mix pack. Pours out a hazy light golden amber. Aroma is distinctively cascade. Earthy-pine. Bready and bitter like a typical pale ale with cascade. nothing to write home about.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 4/5/2013. Pours hazy orange amber color with a nice 2 finger dense and fluffy off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of big tangerine, orange zest, grapefruit, lemon peel, floral, caramel, grass, bread, and light pine. Damn nice aromas with big citrus hop presence and moderate malt balance. Taste of big grapefruit, orange zest, lemon zest, floral, grass, caramel, biscuit, pine, and floral earthiness. Fair amount of pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, citrus zest, floral, grass, caramel, and pine on the finish for a good bit. Very nice hop flavor balance and complexity; with moderate malt balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and moderately sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice single hop IPA. All around nice balance and complexity of hop and malt flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle pour to shaker. Piney, woodsy taste. Medium hop and bitterness. My favorite of the three Crooked Tree single hop offerings.
