On tap at Pinocchio’s. This is the second variation of Crooked Tree I’ve had...but never had the base version. Both were excellent. Pour that looked like iced tea...very little head, cloudy...could have really passed for iced tea. Big hoppy nose. Huge cascade flavor, with some mild teabag notes. Very bitter. Worth seeking out.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 4/5/2013. Pours hazy orange amber color with a nice 2 finger dense and fluffy off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of big tangerine, orange zest, grapefruit, lemon peel, floral, caramel, grass, bread, and light pine. Damn nice aromas with big citrus hop presence and moderate malt balance. Taste of big grapefruit, orange zest, lemon zest, floral, grass, caramel, biscuit, pine, and floral earthiness. Fair amount of pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, citrus zest, floral, grass, caramel, and pine on the finish for a good bit. Very nice hop flavor balance and complexity; with moderate malt balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and moderately sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice single hop IPA. All around nice balance and complexity of hop and malt flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Damico (2562) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 3, 2012
Pours clear amber with an orange hue and decent and creamy white head. The aroma brings the citrus orange notes of the cascade hops, sweet and even juicy, quite pleasant in the nose. The flavor of the cascade hops as a backbone brings some bitter citrus notes that blend with sweet malts and the same cascade hops quite well. The body is smooth, medium and just right carbonation coming out of a growler.

Draught at Country Boy. Bitter and hoppy upfront where the hops really shine. Then settles into slight sweetness from malt. Very tasty. Much better than regular Crooked Tree.

Draft. Aroma has notes of stinky citrus hops, caramel malts. Hazy amber hue with a small white head that left great lace. Palate is medium bodied and watery avg. Flavor is medium sweet and heavy bitter. Overall a lovely stinky IPA.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate-heavy citrus, light fruit, and grapefruit. It pours a transparent amber with a small off-white head that quickly fades to a thin soapy film. There’s a good amount of sticky webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate citrus (mostly oranges) along with light fruit and just a hint of caramel. The finish has light-moderate grapefruit with just a touch of lemon. It’s medium bodied with soft carbonation and mouthfeel. Overall, I like this better than regular Crooked Tree.
