Bottle. Pours murky burnt orange with thin white head that dissipates. Hop forward aroma over mild carbonation. Decent flavor but limited complexity ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I decided to open this at the same time with 2 other single hopped dark horse IPAís. Not much aroma from any of them. They all look pretty close to the same. Dark orange with off white head.

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home about to watch game 7 of the World Series. Appearance is a bright ruby with a thin white head. Aroma is sweet, light grapefruit, light pine, potent but not overpowering. Taste goes down with a moderate abrasiveness, which is interesting considering the ABV, thick, high on the malt but with a hoppy profile. Interesting stuff, overall pretty good.

12oz bottle pours a murky orange with some thin, ringing white head. Nose has lemon notes, mildly floral, mild pear, some pine, some soap. I expected more. The nose is a bit muddled. Flavor kind of follows malt, a little honeycomb, some preserved lemon, a little guava, even a little agave, some pine as well. Medium bodied, lightly sticky finish. The least successful of the three single hop beers I tried.

Pours a hazy orange with a reddish tint. The head retention was defined but mildly done. In the aroma I caught semi sweet malts, floral and grapefruit like hop scents, and some booze notes. The flavor is of sweet grains, mild booze intensity, and a somewhat pleasant bitterness. Overall a good beverage.

I donít know whatís going on with this head, but itís absolutely insane. Yes, Iíve held onto this beer for about a year, and there was a good amount of carbonation released when I uncapped the bottle. Itís obviously unfiltered, with remnants of dead yeast sticking to the side of the glass and gracefully in suspension. The color is a murky orange, and its insanely foamy head is extremely dense and cream-colored in some parts, while light brown and lighter, foamier, taller, and more brown in others. The beer looks complicated for an IPA. The aroma is of soft malts and piney, fruity hops. A soft, but sharp sweetness pervades the nose, even after more than a year in the bottle. Itís just as soft in the mouth as it is on the nose, but the flavor seems much more bitter than I expected in the finish. Itís almost harsh, and really surprises you after its subtle, soft, almost creamy introduction. Thereís something very green and weed-like about the beer, much like a grassy plant youíd drag out of a marsh with the leg of your pants. A unique, soft and resinous hop presence hangs around in the finish long enough to make you adjust to the crazy hop character and crave the next sip. Nice, and very different from the original Crooked Tree!

Bottle. Pour is hazy orange with a medium white head. Aroma and flavor of straw, pine resin, citrus, slight vegetable, and earth. Finish is sweet and slightly bitter.
