Dark Horse Fore Smoked Stout

The most intensely flavored black ale that I have ever tried! Makes many imperial stouts seem bland! Completely black color, and modest head. Medium body. Smoke in aroma and taste is noticeable, but doesn’t hide the deep roasted malt flavor.

Black pour with a dark brown head. Aroma of smoked peat, BBQ chips(?), roasted malt, and sweetness. The head quickly disapated. Taste is smoked malt, sweet,creamy stout, roasted malt. Leaves a nice creamy sweet aftertaste. Another tasty beer from Michigan

12 oz. bottle - thanks to pepsican for the trade; dark brown pour with brown head fading quickly; rich, creamy nose with a touch of smoke; sweet, almost baltic porter-ish in flavor with lots of sweetness; dry finish with smoke complementary all around; quite nice

BOTTLE: jet black thick pour, no head. Smoked meat & molasses on the nose, mouthfeel is medium/thick, taste is smokey but not over the top. Excellent.

12 oz bottle slightly chilled. Poured black with a small tan head. Aroma was a little smoky as it warmed. Tastes of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, with a nice smoke finish. I’m really loving smoked beers now and this one was very solid.

2008 Bottle - Thanks motortoddhead! - Pours thick and dark with a small tan head...aroma is sweet cocoa, light smoke, roasted wood...flavour is dark and slightly meaty...I don’t get too much smoke, but a nice amount, with roasty malt, resiny grain and some carob...dry and bitter, just like grandma...

filthy pour, dirty head with a red hue at its edges! aroma is intense BBQ smoke, but without the salty sweet ’bacon’ usually found in smoked beers. distinct robatussin flavor that echoes that red edge in the pour. soft mouthfeel with big late bitterness that lingers.

Bottle. Pours black with a creamy 1/2 inch thick tan head. Nose of peat malt, light smoke, coffee. Flavor was very roasty with hints of smoke and coffee. Long finish on this brew leaving some smoked malts on the palate.
