Pours pitch black with a dark head. It tastes chocolately with a smoky finish. A very good beer.

12 oz. Bottle from Rebekah. Big thanks goes out to her! Pitch black pour with a nice creamy mocha colored head. Big time roast aroma, bittersweet chocolate, smoke char, and just a hint of sweet dark fruits. Flavor is super rich roasty bittersweet chocolate, subtle molasses and fruit sweetness, and finishing with a big blast of smoke on the palate. A combination of smoke and chocolate lingers for a long, while like smoked mesquite BBQ kind of wood. Big rich mouthfeel--impressive for the ABV--silky smooth with low to low-medium carbonation. Reminds me a lot of Plead the Fifth but with extra extra roast and some smoke. Smoke doesn't overpower which gives this a nice complexity among all the flavors present. This is really really good!

Pours a great black color with a deep brown head looking wonderful. Really nice fresh coffee bean smell. Flavor is interesting with big chocolate feel upfront and finishes with the comeback of the coffee flavors. Good stuff.

Pretty good stout. Did not quite live up to the rest of this series. Would like to have another.

Aroma: Liquorice, bit of smoke, roasty(coffee-ish), vanilla, hint of chocolate, dark berries, well balance Appearance: Dark brown black, no see through, coffee crema dark beige head, little bubbles, stickin to the glass, oily kinda full lace Taste: Liquorice, little ashy light smoke residue on end, light coffeebitter, all around mouthtaste is a bit chocolate, good balance, could use a bit bigger body, smoke doesn’t stand out (wich I like)

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
It’s pitch black with a dark brown, creamy head. The aroma has notes of chocolate, licorice, roasted malt, BBQ - not so much peat, I think. The flavor has a medium sweetness and lovely roasted notes of licorice, chocolate and towards the long finish the peat creeps lingering in the picture alongside a little dryness. Lovely and easy to drink.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a very dark black with just a bit of red on the edges and a almost non existent light brown head. Roasty coffee on the nose, caramel, raisins, cocoa, and a light peaty note. Tastes great, lots of super dark bitter chocolate, a kind of smoky coffee flavor, vanilla bean, a nice nutty character, and a meaty finish. Delicious. Not as smoky as I would have liked, but I think it still works really well.

Medium body black pour with thick brown head. Chocolate aroma hint of smoke. Awesome amount of smoke, not overpowering. Chocolate and vanilla. One of.my favorite smoke beers. Light carbonation.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
NYE bottle share at Proof. Apparently 4-5 years aged. Pours a deep rich black color with very thin head and a decent tan collar. Aroma is lightly smoked malt, and some burnt coffee. Taste is very similar. Taste is not overly smoked, which is a common complaint I have about smoked beers. Thick body and low-medium carbonation.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz bottle. Pours a nice oily black with a minor dark brown film of head and no lace to speak of. The aroma is big on chocolate with roasted malt also huge on the back end. There is a little of smokiness present, bit not as much as the name would imply. The flavor is much of the same. There is a big roastyness and a good bit of chocolate, but the smokiness doesn't come through until the aftertaste. It's really thin on the palate, but the flavors linger nicely
