Robe noire magnifique, mousse discrète, beige/brune.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a tan head that dissipates quickly. Dark chocolate with a smoky component in the aroma and taste. Just a great, drinkable stout

Bottle to glass, average creamy dark brown, rapidly diminishing head. Notes of molasses and roast. Medium mouth feel, alittle thin for a stout, though it had a nice long bitter finish. The smoke was so suttle the base beer ran it over.

The smoked malt is nicely subtle in this Dark Horse gem, allowing the expected roasty flavors to come through, too. Tapped at Slow’s in Detroit, so it was just perfect with the Big Three (Pulled Pork, Pulled Chicken and Sliced Brisket). You cannot go wrong with this combo platter and beverage!

Color negro intenso con espuma beige oscuro. Aromas ahumados, tostados y chocolate. Cuerpo denso, sabores tostados, ahumados, con un final amargo moderado achocolatado. Muy rica.

Mostly what you’d expect from a stout, the usual chocolate and coffee flavors, but there is also some wood smoke evident, and a faint flavor that tastes like the leather sling on my Mauser Kar98K smells. I like it. I could use a bit more smoke, but I like it.

Pours an almost pitch black with a dark tanned head. Aroma is roasted malts, mellow peat, coffee, caramel and leather. Taste is moderate sweet, with bitter coffee and chocolate. Body feels close to full and it is softly carbonated.

Just about perfect, the smokiness is a good compliment to the classic stout chocolate flavors. Very restrained smoky taste unlike some other smoked brews I’ve tried where brewers obviously just tried to cram as much smoke taste into it as chemically possible. Actually liked this one much better than Plead the 5th.

Dark body with a very dark chocolate brown head. Aroma is dark chocolate, roasted malt. Taste is sweet with strong chocolate taste. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. Nice stout.

12 oz. bottle purchased at the mighty Yankee Spirits in Sturbridge, MA. Pour is jet black with a nice dark brown head, but quickly dissipates. Aroma is nice. Some cocoa, faint chocolate with a smokey charcoal aroma that isn't too dominant. Taste is similar, a mild spiciness with the smoke. Milk chocolate comes through with mild hints of coffee, finishes with a pleasant amount of wood, smoke and hops. This stout has really nice balance, and the mouthfeel is some where between a porter and an imperial stout.
