3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz bottle poured into stout snifter. Opaque black with just a hint of brown at the stem of the glass. A one-finger brown head forms and slowly falls to a ring. No lacing. The aroma features smoked malt, roasted coffee, bakers chocolate, and molasses. Overall, the nose is mild and the smoke, specifically, is subtle. Fore’s taste follows the nose with a slight roasted malt, molasses, and chocolate sweetness followed by coffee and char bitterness. The smoke comes faintly on the finish. Medium body, creamy texture, moderate carbonation, and a long bitter finish with some smoke.

330 ml bottle at home. Pours intense dark brown, little to no head. Mildly roasted cold coffee, nice chocolate and mocca flavours, little smoke scent though. Watery body, quite some dry coffee roast, roasted and toasted bread, even some burnt malts.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
I’m not a huge smoked beer fan but this one is pretty damn good. Dark brown medium body poor with a 2-finger dark chocolate head. Good smoke aroma and not overpowering smoke in the taste. Dark Horse is really solid with this one like all of their stouts. Well done.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
So many porters include smoke, but I haven’t seen too many stouts. This isn’t bad. Pours a deep, dark black, with an almost purpleish head. Aroma of smoke, roasted grain, chocolate, coffee. Flavor is also mainly smoke (almost tastes like smoked meat), along with some sweetness, chocolate, licorice, coffee. etc.

At a tasting, thanks, very little head, opaque black color, aroma of chocolate cake, wood and dark bread in the back, flavor of dark chocolate, coal and dark bread in the back, pleasant light bitterness. Nice though not really smokey.

Bottle at home. Pours black with a tan head. Roast malts aroma, tastes the smoke but not too overpowering, little sweetness in there from a hint of dried fruits. Nice balance. Decent smoked beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Sensoric. Pitch black with small, light brown head. Poor lacing and head retention. Aroma of roasted malts combined with light to medium amoked notes (bacon). You can find here some dark fruits aromas - rasins, Taste is semi-sweet to semi-dry, but in the end definetely semi-dry with nice, dark chocolate bitterness. In overall once again above average stout from Dark Horse, this time with hints of some smoked notes.
