2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle: Thanks, Matt. Dark brown, bruised body, approaching black towards the center. No head. None. Barely even a stray bubble on top. Aroma is a mix of light Belgian chocolate, soft red wine, faint coconut, & a berry concoction that starts off semi-sweet but grows more notably tart with each successive whiff. First sip gives an unexpected jolt of heavy acetic sourness. Puckering vinegar atop a charred, dark malt background. Belgian chocolate, black cherry skins, plums, vinegar, red wine, acetone, charred nuts. This thing is all over the place. Itís kind of like a super janky, unrefined Tart Of Darkness. Not bad, per se, but not necessarily good either.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate chocolate raspberries with a touch of alcohol. It pours a dark brown with some faint orange highlights and a few stray bubbles for a head. The flavor starts with a quick dose of chocolate with some faint molasses. There is light-moderate sour raspberry in the middle. The finish has light vanilla with a hint of roasted coffee. Itís medium bodied with light carbonation. Overall, Iím not a roasty and sour fan, but the vanilla in the finish makes it work better than most.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle shared at 4th of July BBQ (Lyons, IL). Oh, lord.. Iíve wanted to rate this for awhile. And I guess I finally got my wish. Pours a darker brownish ruby hue, some decent light gets through with a loose tannish head atop, small lacing and stick around overall. The nose is evident right off the bat as some acetone and red fruit hit the nostrils. Touches of caramel and stickiness, apple and nail polish remover. Touches of sourness are harsh and abrasive. In for a treat, guys! Initial is acedic as acetone, a bit chemical and some abrasive sourness hit the palate. Oddly enough the progression into fermented caramel, caramel apples and touches of red fruit go without a hitch. Faint Tootsie Roll, oak barrel and wet wood meet more sourness, acedic elements and like. Finishes much like that progression goes. A mess of a beer with a couple vindicating factors (It looks good, it isnít the worst beer Iíve had and is more drinkable than the nose lends it, etc).. but overall, wow.. this beer is messy.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a cloudy brown with small beige head that diminishes rather quickly. The aroma is oak, dark fruit, and vinegar. Thin mouthfeel with strong cherry skin, vinegar, and oak. Very sour, decent.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sample at First Sunday, brought by heyta. Pours dark, with a minimal, tan head. The aroma is sour cherries, chocolate, and toffee. Very sour flavor up front, and very well balanced with lots of malty sweetness. Medium body, acidic, and a little clingy. Reminds me of cordial cherries. Very flavorful, and a nice, subtle aroma.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
750ml bottle. Bottle 725 of 804. Batch 3659. Origin was the 2012 Winter Warmer party. Pours dark brown with deep red tones. No head or carbonation Huge sour aroma. Taste is pure sour, like biting into a really sour apple. My palate is obviously not refined enough to appreciate sour beers. I poured about half the bottle into a pint glass and sipped on it until it was done, but I had to pour the rest out because I was getting no enjoyment what so ever. Some of this may be my lack of experience with sours, but based on most of the other ratings maybe this one just didnít work out for DH. Regardless of of this disappointment I still absolutely love this brewery. I just wonít be spending big bucks on any more bottles of DH sour beers.

0.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20
Bottle was an extra. Cage is loose, so assuming low/no carb. Required a wine opener to get the cork out. I think there was actually a vacuum instead of pressure...ha.
Smell isnít horrible, but is intense vinegar. a bit of oak.
Ah shit....that was nasty. Not sure when this was bottled or how this was when it was released, but if it was anything close to this, piss off Dark Horse for releasing it. Just so bad. I canít even consider taking another ship. vinegar and vomit.

2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
750mL shared by RobConoClast from BA, Thanks Rob. This is just a acetic bomb, tons of nail polish remover in the nose and stinging in how bitter it was, I think DH needs to up their sour game before they continue.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark mahogany with scant beige head, no legs / Light, sour, acidic nose of dark & orchard fruit, oak, hint of acetone / Light to medium body, mostly flat, good balance otherwise, somewhat hot / Sour, mellow flavors of plum, dark cherry, chocolate, balsamic vinegar, oak / Iíve now tried a number of this series. Varied from awful to average. Sort of seems like an ownerís kidís pet project.
