4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 19/20 novels (385) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 12, 2013
Dark Horse Brewery continues to dominate my heart. Amazing texture in this one- oily and viscous, but also smooth and boozy. Insane mouthfeel, with an impressive character of malt, creamy chocolate, boose, and barley. Incredible.

Nose of chocolate. Pale brown head. Dark brownish black color. Soft vanilla taste with some hints of blue cheese and coffee at the end. Alcohol well hidden behind malt. Average hops. Some bitterness at the end.

May 17, 2013 - bottle via trade. Black pour with limited tan head and lacing. Aroma was chocolate, coffee and roast. Taste was consistent with aroma. Finish was very dry and bitter, which was not very pleasant.
4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 StoeckleJason (21) - - MAY 14, 2013
Black as night, nice short dark brown/gray head. Smells roasty. Great body, nice viscosity for a stout. Tastes of roasted malts and toasted oatmeal. Great beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Chuckaduck (507) - Kentucky, USA - APR 27, 2013
Bottle. 4/27/13. Pours an oily opaque dark brown with a thin brown head. Aroma is chocolate, caramel, cereal (oatmeal), creamy, roasty. Taste is very nice, dry, creamy, slightly warming; chocolate, coffee, spicy, roasty malts, touch of alcohol, some fruit notes, subtle hint of smoke. Light lacing. Medium carbonation. Full-bodied with a thick oily mouth feel. Really nice; more aggressive than some other oatmeal stouts I’ve had, which I like. Full flavored; full bodied. Tasty, drinkable, memorable.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Scrapersnbeer (1018) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - APR 26, 2013
Aroma of dark chocolate and creamy coffee. Pitch oily black look, nice and slimy. Sweet taste, roasted malts and some lactic hints here and there. Not too thick, very approachable, though not an easy drinker. Good all around stout, if anything it may be too sweet.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Evolutionary (175) - Ohio, USA - APR 20, 2013
Bottle from Oxford beer store. Joe gave me one. Sharp sweet nose and full thick pour. Medium thick mouthfeel and smooth body. One strange sweet malty chocolatey hint in there but still decent. Not the best but a decent oatmeal stout. Hides the 7% easily.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 conway (606) - - APR 18, 2013
Bottle. Pours black with a big khaki head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, roasted malt and oat. Taste is similar but really emphasizes the roasted malt. Palate is a little thinner than I'd like for the style but nice otherwise. Tasty beer but could use some body and a little more balance.

Another cool stout by DH. Aroma is big time molasses and roast with some light hops. Coffee comes to mind, too. Pour is oily black with a thin tan head. Flavor is faint dark cherry, roast, coffee, and dark chocolate. Good stuff.
