Number one in a series of five stouts produced for the fall and winter seasons. This beer is full bodied with hints of chocolate, roasted barley, coffee flavors and a nice creamy head.

No bottle date A: Pours a abysmal dark with a single finger of mocha head which falls to thin and broken surface sheet of the same. Rim of foam. Little to no lacing. Boring for the style, usually expect a little head and some lacing. S: Bitterness, coffee, dark chocolates, rye bread, oats (fully roasted). Hints of...mushroom? Faintest hare of copper. T: A little astringent up front, then plenty of bitter cocoa and coffee beans. Fairly simple taste profile here. Base oats and malts I would expect in the style. A little too much bitterness midway on the palate. Nothing standing out here. A bit sour on the finish. M: Medium body with medium to hi carb. Would prefer a bit more body on the style and a little lower carb. Dry finish. O: Pretty standard oatmeal stout IMO. That being said, I would drink it again. I think if they increased the hops on this they would have a pretty solid ABA. Serving type: bottle 05-19-2011

I had this at Global Brew. Pours black with a brown head. Taste roasted malt, chocolate, coffee. I thought this was so so. I wouldn't drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Local Option, Chicago. Black with thin brown head. Aroma is grainy, oaty, and roasty. Taste is bitter with roasted grains and chocolate, oats, brown sugar, with a bitter finish. Medium body. Very enjoyable.

This is a delicious stout. Great cocoa coffee nose. Thick dark brown head. It has great viscosity in the mouth. Rich roasted malt flavors that match the nose. Had it on tap.

ok stout. not much of an aroma. based on pour thought it would be a heavier beer. roasty up front. has a hoppier finish than i prefer in a stout.

12 oz bottle. Pours a nice black with a dark khaki head that fades quickly to a spotty film. The lace left behind is minimal, but thick. The aroma is heavy in roast and notes of chocolate and a nice sweetness. The flavor is a little sweeter than I was expecting. It's got a solid coffee-like flavor blast that fades through to a little chocolate and finishes with big roast. The lingering flavor is solid roast and the mouth feel is just a touch light ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle: black as night with a velvety, succulent tan head that slowly dribbles away into a chunky collar. Aroma is roasted barley & malts, creamy oat & milky sweetness, light coffee, some brown sugar, bittersweet chocolate, & dark fudge. Taste is nice & sweet for a split second before it diverges into a roasty, slightly bitter mid-palate & finish. Dark chocolate, bitter cocoa beans, slight coffee, roasted & charred barley. Oats, fudge, dense & bitter cocoa & roast finish. Slight milky undercurrent balances a bit. Hint of dark prunes with warmth? Big mouth feel... Tasty stout.
