Nice dark pour... somewhat of a creamy dark tan head, but it goes away fast in the snifter. Nice staining on the glass. Smooth and creamy leathery roasted oatmeal malt aroma. Mmm... very nice creamy coffee and chocolate combination with some woody vanilla. Good stuff... Iím curious about what went into this beer... obviously some roasted malt and oatmeal... any coffee or chocolate? Iíd like to think it is "natural", but who knows... either way it is very nice and delicious... certainly up there with the Breakfast Stout.

Aroma of black patent malt with a roasted coffee and some chocolate notes. Dark, dark brown with some light showing through right at the edges. Roasty, dry flavor with lots of oatmeal and some chocolate that is very nice. Medium-full body with a dry finish. Thanks to Silphium for sharing this one.

Big thick pour, opaque and black in color with some cascading dark tan lace. Bless this brewery. Blackened oats, singed with love, elevate the aroma while burr grinded French roast coffee dust is sprinkled sporadically for extra character and complexity. Rich bitter grinds strike heavy and fast for the flavor composite. Hints of licorice flitter about, joining a waxy, ensconcing palate that bites off more than it should chew, and Iíve got no problem taking down its regurgitation. Black malts and far reaching bitterness celebrate the multi-dimensional intrigue of the tongue. Loving it as always. Thanks so much for bringing this along, Silphium!

Thanks Brad! Pours to a darky brown/black body with a thin tan head. The aroma is roasty and sweet with oatmeal and chocolate/coffee. The flavor is rich and roasty. Dry, yet sweet. Nice roastyness. The palate is dry and roasty. Lightly sweet. Medium-full body. Quite a good brew.

12 oz. bottle from Walleye in a recent trade - thanks Jim. I thought I was pouring used motor oil out of the bottle. Just donít remember seeing an oatmeal st. this thick & black! aroma of dark roast malt and some bittersweet chocolate. flavors are more of the same with coffee, hints of anise and a fairly strong hop backbone. somewhat buttery with a lingering yet pleasant dry bitter finish. I donít think there is much middle ground on this beer, either youíll like it or you wonít. I like it!!!
