3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very dark black oily pour. Nice rocky brown head. The aroma is quite choclately, very dessert like. Roasted nuttiness and some alcohol also develop. The flavor is packed with stoutie goodness. Roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, medium bitter. Medium body with a lightly alcoholic finish. Some of hte bitterness somes from the malts and some from the hops. These guys know how to make stouts. Another Dark Horse winner.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Definitely opaque black liquid, topped with a small head of brown bubbles. Actually a 4.5 but iíll give it a four in appearance. Light coffee and german chocolate (almost black forest cake) in the aroma, with some toasty grain and alcohol. Rich and creamy in feel. Fairly mild in the flavor department, something that isnít always a bad thing. Stronger roast start followed by mild coffee and chocolate. Flavors thin toward the end with some paler malt and a touch of black malt coming out. Dry finish. Not a sweet stout, not a dry stout, just a stout.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pitch black color with a generous light brown head. The aroma was full of wonderful roasty, toasty coffeish chocolaty tones...some prune tones as well. The flavor was not quite as full, but nice...chocolate coffee...prunes...roastiness in the aftertaste. Smooth, silky, creamy feel...wet, coating finish. Very nice sweet stout. Thanks Wohlfs!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Thanks to wohlfs for the trade! Pours opaque black with a small dark brown head. Nose is coffee, roasted malt, and cocoa. Taste is coffee, roasted malt and light grains and chocolate. Very little sweetness in this, in my opinion. The smoked stout they make seemed sweeter. Body is slightly oily and has light bitterness. Finish is more roasted malt, faint fruit, coffee, light chocolate and a hint of molasses.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Black with brown film for a head. Big coffee aroma. All coffee flavor. Full bodied oily mouthfeel. Where is the oatmeal though?

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
surprisingly roasty for a sweet stout. i expected more oatmeal presence. pours an oily near-opaque-black. small bright tan head. slightly too tangy/bitter for a stout (particularly a sweet stout) but itís good as it is. plan to follow it with their #2, the cream stout.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Deepest black color. Very thick appearing on the pour. No head, carbonation is minimal in this beer. Aromaís of deeply roasted grains, coffee. Very smooth and silky mouthfeel. Full bodied. Flavor is burnt grain, almost astringent, highly roasted coffee beans. Hops kick in at the finish to dry and pucker you up a little. Well done. I liked this in spite of the apparent lack of carbonation.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from the very odd store located next to the brewery: Pitch black, coffee brown around the edges, thin chocolate milk-looking head. Bean (as in coffee and vanilla) nose. Body magically thickens in my mouth, like itís cascading upon swallow. Huge burst of espresso right away, dry, chalky espresso and slowly softens to a slightly fruity hint with generous hopping obvious. Leaves a nice oily, burnt coffee taste that coats all parts of my mouth. These guys are serious about their stouts. The "One" is a perfect start at the brewpub, go look at all the cool stuff attached to the wall, and the hilarious graffitti in the bathrooms!
