almost black in color, with no head. aromas of chocolate, vanilla, and burnt coffee/espresso. very chocolate and a touch of alcohol hottness. good stout, but thought the oatmeal would give it a rounder mouthfeel.

bottle courtesy of coyotehunter, thanks! pours black with a dark brown head, nice foamy retention, lots of spotting. aroma is slightly subdues, sweet, oaty, and a lil dough. nice medium body with lots of toast and plenty of roast. another solid local from dark horse.

Bottle -- pours like dark blood, thick and rich in its dark colors. The initially tan foam head dwindles quickly. What little aroma there is here, it’s light and quiet -- with a hint of chocolate. The drink delivers a bit more than that, with a rich chocolate character. Good. (#3789, 1/3/2010)

Thick dark motor oil pour with a nice dark brown head. Slightly sour bitter roasted flavor. Coffee finish with some fruit and berries.

One of several brews my wife ordered me for Christmas from beergeek.biz - 12oz bottle - black pour with a thin beige head that leaves a ring. Pleasant milk chocolate and coffee aroma. Medium roasted malt taste with the expected coffee and oatmeal. Light to medium bodied with a metallic tint. Was a little shocked to see this was 8% abv - don’t detect any of the alcohol. Overall a nice drinkable oatmeal stout.

12oz bottle, no date. Black with a thin ring of light brown foam, fades to a thin layer rather quickly with decent lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate with just a hint of yeast fruitiness. Big dark chocolate flavor, some nice roast malt, firm bitterness on the finish. Really impressed, was expecting a lack luster watery stout.

Wow, if ever there was a beer that gained from being let warm up. At first this seemed harsh and boozy, which of course doesn’t make too much sense. Decent aroma, on the roasty chocolate side, as it warms the mouthfeel and flavor improve. Pretty decent. How does it compare to Kalamazoo or something like that? Well, I’m not totally sure-I’m not sure why this is in the sweet stout section.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown, small tan/brown head after a forced pour, dissipated quickly. Aroma is very faint touches of chocolate, lightly roasted malt and sweet vanilla notes. Roasted malt, coffee and subtle touches of chocolate are front and center, touches of vanilla and slight touch of hop hidden in the background at the finish. Body is very thin, would have liked this one to be a bit thicker, touch of bitterness on the finish.

Bottle from Bierkoning. Dark brown body with thinnest of heads. Nose of dark chocolate. Very nice. Full-flavoured chocolate, barley and coffee. Not too strong but well done. Dark chocolate in the finish. Nice and sweet. Enjoyable.
