2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Backlog rating 1-01-2009 (Bottle) When poured, this beer has a small tan smooth semi-fizzy head with poor retention, cloudy body, spotty amounts of lacing, lively, fizzy carbonation, and an orange-brown hue. The Aroma is weak coffee, lightly bitter and smells like cold coffee that has been sitting around for a while. The Flavor is the same as the Aroma. The Palate is tingly and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, I do not like a Dopplebock beer having coffee characteristics of any kind. It is out of place for this style and a beer I will pass on if it comes my way again.

2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Deep amber color that is brown in the center. Real tiny head that left no retention. Good aroma of strong espresso beans. Taste is not what I was hoping after smelling the armoa. Sour coffee and watery caramel malt. The palate is thin in body, smooth but has a strange harshness in the finish. Harsh off flavor bitterness. Coffee brews are some of my all-time favorites. However, I will not revisit this one.

Bottle. Dark copper/redish color with frothy, light tan head. Sting coffee and huge toasted/burned malt smell. Milk chocolate, coffee and bitter malt.

1.8 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
12 oz, enjoyed at cellar temp in a wine glass. Pours a murky plum brown. Nice big head that fades fast
Lots of coffee on the nose followed but a disappointing cigarette butt / cigar smoke nose. Taste is pretty disappointing. Tastes like cigarettes, sort of a wheat with a burnt coffee bean finish/

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours clear mahogany with a medium creamy tan head that dissipates with some lacing. Aroma is coffee, ashtray, caramel. Flavor is light sweet, no real bitterness, definitely ashtrays and coffee. Some astringence present. Medium body, bubbly mouthfeel. Good enough.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Total Wine, Fairfax 12oz: Pours a dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is of coffee grounds, roasted malts, but really doesn’t have much of the aroma that is associated with doppelbocks. Taste is slightly sweet. Loads of coffee ground. Kind of like espressoish. Really easy to drink. Quite nice.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark copper with a thick, tan head that stays. Superb lacing. Mildly malty aroma. Rich, creamy mouthfeel. Sweet, roasted, malty flavor with subtle coffee notes that enhance the taste. Smooth, sweet finish. Very good product.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle...Jan 2012...the pour is a ruddy brown ,like a light cola... with no head
immediate coffee burst but muddled...the aroma is raisin and prune ...dates and figs as well , in the aroma as well as the palate...it’s strange like coffee mixed with prunes, this will make you go! creamy yet effervescent on the palate
