COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a true dopplebock and Dark Horse Brewing’s only publicly distributed lager. It was so normal that we couldn’t stand it so we made it into a coffee dopplebock. Ha, take that Germany, with your Reinheitsgebot purity law! Anyway, we use fair trade organic coffee from our friends at The Ugly Mug Cafe in Ypsilanti, MI We did a label contest and opened it up to the public for this beer. We had so many awesome entries that we couldn’t just pick one winner so we have 2 labels for this beer. We stagger the bottles in the six packs but with no order in mind.

Aroma hot peppers, coffee, dryness of alcohol. Interesting and quiet refreshing.7+
Appearance amber with red light. Mild haze. Some beige tanned top.3+
Flavor and Palate : medium light bodied. Bold coffee feel. Malt was quiet thin for doppelbock. Some peppery heat. Good.

From a bottle. Delicious, an almost smoky coffee flavor. Not over the top maltiness.

Dark brown, ruby in color, beige head. In aroma dark malt, coffee, caramell. In taste big beer, malty, bit of chocolate with a strong coffee flavour. The beer is full bodied, has medium bitter end to alance the sweetness. ’in overall very solid, good brew.

Bottle from Erzbierschof - Brown color with a beautiful creamy white head, fully lasting and beautiful lacing - Aroma is malty, coffee, caramel - Flavor is a string malt backbone with coffee - Medium body, light bitterness, sweet, fizzy carbonation, sweet coffee malt finish - really good and really well balanced but too fizzy

Bottle 330 ml at home, poured into a snifter. ABV 7%. One of the most metal labels I’ve seen. Deep red ruby to red brown colour on the body, clear, with a huge light beige head on top. Very thick, with great retention. Spots of lacong around the glass. Aroma of herbs, leaves, grounded used coffee, mould. Taste of leaves, cold coffee of low quality, moist grains. A lemon leaves-like light bitterness on the aftertaste. Medium body, soft carbonation, quite dry palate. Weird beer, still drinkable though.

definitely has the bang of cold coffee, could use some backbone and flavor otherwise though.

Bit of strange one. Definitely get some coffee but it’s a bit thin and just kind of odd.

this is one weird beer, it taste like coffee without any of the bitterness that goes with it because it is masked with the sweetness that would typically reside in a dopplebock

12 oz. gusher erupts a dark copper brown with a large foam. Aroma is quality coffee with light cocoa and toffee. Tastes of caramel, strong coffee, dark chocolate and some light dry grass. Medium body is smooth with a low level of carbonation and well balanced.

Bottle from Brusin’ Ales. Pours brown with 2 inches of khaki foam. Leaves a shitload of lacing. Smells like brewed coffee on the nose. Tastes a lot like coffee on the tongue. Finishes fairly clean. Better than I thought it would be.

12 oz bottle served in a lager glass. Pours clear copper-brown with a massive, foamy bone head. It took several pours and some patience to get the whole bottle into the glass. Unappealing odor, characterized by wet earth, used coffee grinds, and grains. This is followed by a nearly OK flavor. Feel: smooth medium body with a bubbly feel. O: likely a contaminated bottle; for such ever from Dark Horse.
