It's big and full bodied with lots of roasted malts and balanced with heavy hops to put this imperial in a league of its own.
Previously known as Dark Horse Imperial Stout.

Poured very thick and creamy in my snifter. Notes of tobacco and burnt chocolate on the nose. I love the thick palate and bitterness of this impy. Lots of chocolate, tobacco, black licorice and slight hints of chocolate cherry. Fantastic. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Alcoholic aroma of burnt coffee and baker’s chocolate with hints of say and licorice. Straight black, very oliy. Hearty chocolate roasted malt flavor, akin to a fudge brownie made with unsweetened dark chocolate. Pretty smooth, thick and coating. Excellent big stout. I plead the muthaf*kin’ fizzith - Dave Chapelle.

Bottle: insanely dark & thick pour with a head that slowly rises, continuing long after I’m finished pouring; dark-tan with fine bubbles & lovely retention. Aroma is super deep, roasted coffee, charred espresso, bitter cocoa beans, a very light creamy sweetness, dark & bittersweet fudge, & a warming back-end. Taste contains light licorice, bitter coffee beans, charcoal, burnt & roasted malts, light hop character of leaves, ash, & herbs, mild chocolate... So robust & flavorful. Finish of char, roast, burnt coffee & bitter cocoa.

On tap at the Beer Trappe in Lexington Near black and opaque in the glass, with dark brown showing at the edges.  Durable head but little lacing.  Great aroma!  Rich and moderately complex, it suggests great flavor.  The flavor doesn’t quite keep up but is outstanding.  ABV well hidden in the nose, in the flavor, and in the feel. Full body; smooth.

Pours a jet black color with a very slight off-white head. Aroma is a subtle roasted malts. Flavor is heavy on the roasted malts, but also with a surprising amount of sweet chocolate. There’s also a touch of bitterness and alcohol taste. Has a full body feel and goes down smooth. Warms up the belly. This is a delicious imperial stout.

Bottle from De Bierkoning. Pours thick black, foamy brown head. Aroma of ash, chocolate, caramel, liquorice/molasses. Body is medium, slightly foamy, low carbonation. Taste - strong roasted barley, chemical, slight soy and chocolate. A bit boozy and sharp. Nice overall.

A super strong and super chocolately imperial stout. Very smooth with a strong bite for an aftertaste. Pours almost black in color. Had at home ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Expected roasted coffee notes in the aroma. No hops in the aroma. The texture oft the beer is pleasant with the malt being cut by the acidity of the roasted malts and hops. The flavor is good and well balanced. A good example of this this style in my view.

Slight smoky aroma, full bodied, hint of coffee, a great imperial stout, without the ashtray that is Russian imperial stouts. - March madness 2014

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed on a lazy cold spring Saturday in an empty nest. Appearance is a rich, thick pitch black with a moderate dark tan head that rims around the glass. Aroma is robust with chocolate and coffee notes, but in all honesty smells more like a porter to me. Taste is great, goes down with a bitterness that comes from equal parts hops and coffee, light raisin flavor, not really tasting like a 12% ABV brew. Overall, nice work.
