COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It's big and full bodied with lots of roasted malts and balanced with heavy hops to put this imperial in a league of its own.
Previously known as Dark Horse Imperial Stout.

Poured from 12 fl oz bottle. Dark black with creamy dark tan head. Predominant muted roast malt aroma with some coffee and chocolate overlay. Taste of bittersweet chocolate with some coffee, alcohol hidden. Medium oily, light creamy in texture. Medium-full body.

2014 bottle, abv listed at 11%. Dark brownish black color with small medium brown head and little lacing. Aroma and flavor have rich, smooth cocoa, roasted coffee, and a little woodiness. Minimal bitterness, with thick and oily mouthfeel. Pretty good overall.

Poured out of a 12oz bottle. Pitch black with a thin tan head. Heavy roasted malt aroma. Hard to believe this has such a high ABV. This stout goes down smooth for such a strong roasted flavor and hints of coffee. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

uncomplicated beer review. This was my last beer of the night. This is my favorite Dark Horse beer, but that isnít saying much...I am not a huge fan of this brewery. I do remember just a coffee taste with a burnt aftertaste. Donít get the alcohol when you are drinking it, but before you finish you feel it. There is a hoppiness to it too that I was not fully expecting,

Hard to believe this is a 12 abv. There is no sense of alcohol. That being said, i donít find the flavor all that enticing. So the beer is well made but flavor is limited to only some coffee to my palate. Mouth feel is good. Some hops on the ass end. Conflicted on this brew.

UPDATED: MAR 23, 2014 Super roasted! Heavy doses are dark roast coffee in the aroma and taste. Unsweetened dark chocolate, toffee, raisins, brown sugar, cream, toast and a well blended note of alcohol. Heavy body to help carry the flavors.

About to drink as I type. Served in snifter. Straight jet black with a small head if any that is tan to brown. Very small amount of lacing. Right away, roasted malts. Lots and lots of roasted malts. Not much else. Perhaps a very small amount of alcohol, but very small. Cheers. Okay, first off. Alcohol, straight forward on the palate, followed by roasted malts, chocolate, and some hops. Alcohol and more hops on the after taste-which does linger. The aroma does not match the palate per say, but still a grade A beer non the less. Would love to try the bourbon barrel aged edition. 3 go to cellar to see what some age will do. Will pick up a few more 4 packs as well. 2014 edition, 11.0% ABV I believe.

Aroma is chocolate and roasted coffee. Flavor is smooth with rich chocolate and coffee undertones. Finishes clean.

12oz bottle poured into stout glass. Very dark brown and nearly opaque with a few brown slivers at the edges. Half an inch of tan head rises and quickly falls to a thin cap that lingers. A few spots of lace remain. Aroma is of roasted malts, dried dark fruits, unsweetened chocolate, touch of soy sauce, and alcohol. Taste starts moderately sweet with chocolate, brown sugar, and date. Some bitterness follows from espresso and woody notes. Alcohol is masked well but not completely hidden. Medium-full body, creamy texture, low carbonation, warming sweet finish.

Jet black. Minimal dark tan had. Very strong stout smell. Really sweet smelling. Taste like eating a dark chocolate candy. Mildly roasty. Minimal coffee flavor. Mostly chocolaty. Very good. Would love to try the bourbon barrel version.
