3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle@home, from Wine Spot, Cleveland, USA. Strong pungent aroma of licorice and alcohol, some roasted malts and coffee. Pitch black color with small/medium beige head. Strong semi-balanced taste with roasted malts and licorice. Some chocolate, coffee, alcohol and a hint of vanilla. Wide taste spectrum and long aftertaste with roasted malts and licorice. Strong/medium body with medium/light carbonation. Overall, slightly light, off-balanced and boozy, though high quality with strong notes.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
33cl bottle, 2013 vintage, sipped at the beginning of 2016. Pitch black pour, with a very thin espresso head. Rich smell of roasted malts, dark chocolate, whiskey, dark cherries and almonds. The taste is less complex than the nose suggests, and more toward a traditional RIS, heavy on the roasted malts, dark cherries, cocoa and with a bit of whiskey in the end. It feels a bit boozy, but the mouthfeel is quite soft.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
355 ml bottle from Biervana, Munich.
Pitch-black body, with a small, dense, dark coffee-colored head.
Wonderful, dense aroma of melting dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, liquorice, dark fruits, some tobacco, some soy sauce.
Tastes of coffee, liquorice, dark chocolate, cocoa, tobacco, wood, soy sauce, dark fruits, slight alcohol.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes roasty, dry, medium bitter, warm, with coffee, liquorice, tobacco, wood, cocoa powder.
Very tasty. Classic, pure example of this style. Especially the nose is delicious, with a big dark chocolate aroma. Taste is also great, more straight roasty-bitter. Not among my very favourite Imperial Stouts, but still a tasty sipper, offering everything I love this style for.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Beautiful black pour, minimal dark brown pour that fades away quickly leaving a nice ring. Roasted malt aroma dominates, a hint of bitter cocoa. Flavor is pretty much the same, just a hint of bitterness in the finish. Thick and chewy mouthful, very smooth and surprisingly drinkable, ABV well hidden. Every stout fan deserves to try this, itís about as good as they get. The brewers in Michigan have Imperial stouts nailed!

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
On par with Bellís Expedition Stout. Beautiful dark poor and nice tan head. Heavy malt, chocolate, licorice? and perfect balance of hops. This is certainly a sipping beer, glad that I have tried it.

355ml bottle (Alus Celle, Riga) at 11%
Sweat sweaty aroma. Black, brief head. Rich soyey body, nice sweet roast. No sign of alcohol at all. Almost mellow. Finish sweetish, roasty, but with a beautiful dry bitter hopping. Donít share this - this is worth having one on your own. 11% - wowzers.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark brown beer, small off-white head. Nose is soy sauce, roast, dark chocolate, leathery notes, smoke. Flavor is dark chocolate and roasty bitterness, less soy, but itís there, finishes dry, roasty, some chocolate notes. Hides the alcohol well. Dry and surprisingly drinkable.
