It's big and full bodied with lots of roasted malts and balanced with heavy hops to put this imperial in a league of its own.
Previously known as Dark Horse Imperial Stout.

(Thanks Cory "BlowOffTube") Bottle. A- Coffee, cocoa, roasty, brownies. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Coffee, chocolate syrup, bitter cocoa, brownie batter, roasty, alcohol. P- Full body, thin texture, average carbonation, sharp finish. O- As good as this is, I imagine the barrel aged version would blow me away. Excellent Imperial Stout with a full body, but it did seem a little thin on the mouthfeel. The alcohol got stronger as it got warmer, but still a solid beer.

Roasted coffee and burnt toast on nose. Dark brown body with creamy tan head that quickly dissipates. Burnt toast and burnt coffee flavor are a bit overwhelming. Dry mouthfeel...not a lot of body. Tastes like homebrew...a good one, but still.

This pours black with a tan head. Nose of chocolate and ripe dark fruit. Bold body. Flavor is very rich with lots of chocolate and some hops. Finish is long and bitter and the chocolate goes on and on. A very delicious beer;

Roasted malts, chocolate bitter, boozy but not enough to roll your eyes back. Pours thinner but in a good way. Avoids the cloying syrupiness of others. Really, really good. Perfect carbonation.

On tap at Local Option, Chicago. Black as, tan foam. Aroma is dark malt all over the shop - yummy and reminiscent of Nail Clout stout (Aus) and Speedway Stout. Taste is lovely dark malt and rich chocolate flavours. Very well balanced for the strong ABV. Overall, a great imperial stout - a new favourite.

Bottle thanks to ygtbsm94 for FBW. Pours a deep dark black thick color with minimal brown head. Big roasty, chocolate, grainy aroma, light sweetness, smooth. A lot of chocolate malt, roastiness, boozey and hot, bitter chocolate finish. Very solid brew.

Pours a jet black like oil, same type of viscosity. Nose has a lot of roasty notes on it, with some dark fruit and chocolate; follow onto the palate. Finishes with some more roasted malt and chocolate, somewhat dry too.

Bottle. Pitch black with a thick fluffy mocha head. Aroma is chocolate, dark fruit, roasted malt and a touch of citrusy hops. Taste adds some coffee and vanilla. Slightly thin with light carbonation. Delicious but could use a little more body.

UPDATED: APR 25, 2014 Chocolate and coffee notes for sure. Great stout... just missing the bourbon. Overall solid find!
