3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Half of a bottle that the owner of a local store got on his last visit to Marshall and very graciously split with me. There were only 7 left, they gave him this one, and the other 6 are going to GABF as part of Dark Horse’s first entry to GABF. Pours increadibly calm and dark oozing from the neck like oil and sits black with no activity. Aroma is all roasted malts, chocolate, and some coffee hiding the alcohol completely from the nose. Granted, this bottle is a couple years old since they haven’t brewed this in awhile so the advertised large wave of hops was not present in the aroma, or in the nose but it still has something going for it in its nice presentation of malts and dark fruits in the flavor. Sweet chocolate and roasted malt mixing with some raisin and a hint of some vanilla round out a beer that seems to have stood up pretty well. Other than the fact that there are no hop flavors or aroma I would say that the age has not added any off flavors. I understand that they are going to begin brewing this again this fall so I very much look forward to having this fresh.

3.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nieprzejrzyście czarne z piękna, brązową i drobno-pęcherzykową pianą. Aromat to intensywna deserowa czekolada i suszone owoce: śliwki, czereśnie. Przypomina trochę porto. W tle odrobina paloności i nut trawiastych.
W smaku początkowa słodycz i posmaki czekoladowe szybko zabijane są przez wyraźny i dość ordynarny w odczuciu alkohol. Finisz to średnio-wysoka goryczka i posmaki kawowo-alkoholowe. Moja butelka mocno nieułożona.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Black with small tan head. Aroma has malt, sweet coffee, licorice and notes of vanilla. Roasted flavour, some more licorice and lasting, strong bitterness. Well balanced, rather dry and not as sticky as other imps.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Absolutnie zajebisty aromat czekolady, kakao i owoców leśnych, połączony z alkoholem i palonością.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
One of my favorite stouts. 11% is as well-hidden as any stout and the carbonation is perfect.

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at House of 1000 Beers. Nice dark color with slight tan head. Not as thick or oily as other imperial stouts. Very strong coffee aroma. A little too much carbonation for my liking. Flavor hits the front of the tongue then disappears quickly. Taste doesn’t linger long enough like other full bodied beers. Not my favorite imperial stout but it was OK.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
At Belgrade Eighth Tasting, round one. Bottle. Pretty, thick black pour. Shiny, still black appearance, tiny ring head. Dark soy aroma, coffee soda. Rich body, nice bittering. Solid, tasty, properly big imp stout. I dig.

Aroma: lot of plums, alcohol, dark chocolate and light coffee notes. Taste: dark fruits, dried plums, belgian pralines, dark coffee and nice subtle alcohol warming. Really long chocolate afertaste and quite heavy body. Medium head, good lacing and medium carbonation.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
At the 8th tasting (round 1), held at Vlada’s Beerville pub in Belgrade-Serbia. Bottle, many thanks guys. Pours an oily color, pretty no head just a basic lacing. Nose: figs, chocolate, raisins, floral as well. Mouth: silky soft carbonation, dry-bitter finish in a rough body which offers loads of alcohol and sugar.
