It's big and full bodied with lots of roasted malts and balanced with heavy hops to put this imperial in a league of its own.

Malty, berry smell, thick brown head, dark color, the taste is berries, coffee, chocolate, sweetness on the swallow and a mix of sweetness and slight bitterness after the swallow. This is a cold sipper, very, very good beer!

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured black, with a small light brown head. Aroma coffee, malts, some roast and some chocolate. Taste slightly bitter, almost smooth in the booze department, some wood notes, certainly some coffee and malts. Very impressive beer, surprisingly easy to drink and extremely enjoyable.

Alkohol: 11% obj.
Kolor : Czarny jak smoła! Przyznam szczerze, że dawno nie widziałem tak wybitnie czarnego piwa. Lało się do kielicha jak gęsta, lepka smoła.
Piana: Ciemno-beżowa wpadająca w brąz, gęsta, trwała i zwarta. Bardzo solidnie oblepia szkło. Na ściankach malują się liczne wzory.
Zapach: Na bogato! Czarny Koń uraczył mnie lekką palonością, czekoladową słodyczą, kawową wytrawnością i szlachetnymi nutami drewna i wina porto. A to dopiero aromat.
Zapragnąłem kolejnego łyka i tutaj otrzymałem solidną porcję gorzkiej czekolady, pralinek i kawy. W kolejnym łyku na moim języku wyczułem orzechy włoskie. Winna nuta porto odwiedziła mnie po kilku przechyleniach kielicha. Następnie ciemne owoce w postaci jeżyn i subtelna wanilia. Goryczka była szlachetna, zaznaczona, lekko oblepiająca język. Dawka słodyczy szybko została wyrównana przez kawową kwaskowatość. Uczta godna króla! </br> Wysycenie: Minimalne.
Podsumowanie: Perfekcyjne w każdym calu i bardzo kompleksowe piwo. Moje pierwsze piwo z browaru Dark Horse z Marshall, Michigan. Od samego początku wszystko tu grało. Najpierw nieprzejrzysta czerń w kolorze. Potem gęsta, smolista i lepka piana. Następnie wielowymiarowy aromat i na koniec różnorodność składników w smaku. Niekwestionowany wyznacznik stylu.

Bottle@home, from Wine Spot, Cleveland, USA. Strong pungent aroma of licorice and alcohol, some roasted malts and coffee. Pitch black color with small/medium beige head. Strong semi-balanced taste with roasted malts and licorice. Some chocolate, coffee, alcohol and a hint of vanilla. Wide taste spectrum and long aftertaste with roasted malts and licorice. Strong/medium body with medium/light carbonation. Overall, slightly light, off-balanced and boozy, though high quality with strong notes.

33cl bottle, 2013 vintage, sipped at the beginning of 2016. Pitch black pour, with a very thin espresso head. Rich smell of roasted malts, dark chocolate, whiskey, dark cherries and almonds. The taste is less complex than the nose suggests, and more toward a traditional RIS, heavy on the roasted malts, dark cherries, cocoa and with a bit of whiskey in the end. It feels a bit boozy, but the mouthfeel is quite soft.
