Ungstrup (11353), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 3, 2006 A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is fantastic with notes of alcohol, roasted malt, and hops, in a very fine mixture. The flavor is very roasted, which gives it a dryness, but also rather sweet, leading to a good bitter end. Nice. Papsoe (10267), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 9, 2006 (Bottle 35,5 cl) Completely opaque black with a light brown head. Malty, sweetish nose. Very full-bodied with plenty of hard roasted malt without being really burned. Vinous and alcoholic. Extremely delicate. 300406 Oakes (6966), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Apr 7, 2005 Quite black in colour. Boozy, roasty aroma. Very rich character - grabs your attention and holds it hostage. Big, thick, chewy flavours. Good quality, but doesn’t get exceptional at any point - just big joergen (6529), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 1, 2006 Bottle.
Black coloured with a brown head.
Roasted aroma with notes of coffee, liquorice and vanilla.
Roasted flavour with notes of coffee, dried fruits and liquorice. argo0 (6229), Washington DC, USA Dec 18, 2005 (12oz bottle, thanks Barry) Oily black body with the tiniest sliver of brown carbonation hugging the sides of the glass. Aroma is medium sweet, espresso, some dark chocolate. Taste is sweet, espresso, dark chocolate, some molasses, light earthy -- its rich chocolatey sweetness evokes one of those flourless chocolate tortes. Creamy full body that mostly conceals the alcohol, but lacks carbonation. A little more carbonation, and this would be among my top impys. As it is, this is quite tasty.
