brewandbbq (228), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Jun 23, 2008 Pours hazy gold with an orange hue. A quarter-inch head of white dissapated quickly leaving a few whisps on the surface.
Aromatics lead off with some light raspberries and perhaps some citrus underneath.
A hint of honey follows through as well as a wince of cherry.
Light to medium bodied. Crispish with a slight syrup note. Carbonation is on the light side of medium.
Raspberries, tangerine, and light malt start the pallet. A residual honey note follows through.
Alcohol and hopping is minimal, and the beer is clean and fruity.
Finishes with some lingering fruit essence and a hint of tart lemon.
Nothing bad about this one, just nothing outstanding in any aspect. The fruit is not abundant or fresh, and the base beer is average
skoll (35), Traverse City, Michigan, USA Aug 27, 2008 Drank this when I was camping out of a paper cup. Poured with a light colored head. Light tart raspberry aroma with a sweet tart hint. Ok, a raspberry ale, yeah, there are some hint of raspberries, some hint of malt, but rather weak in both with nothing else to back things up. It was still a nice beer to wash down a burger around the camp fire. WakeandBake (37), Greenville, Michigan, USA Aug 23, 2008 Bottle. Pours an amber/copper color, with a thin white head. The first thing I noticed was the wonderful fruit aroma, that matched the initial taste of raspberries and faint hops, later on I got some of the malt flavor to boot. Nothing really stood out in this Ale but I found it to be well rounded and enjoyed it.Will buy again. illkarate (41), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Aug 16, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a slightly murky, orangish gold color. Minimal head and only a touch of lacing. Raspberries are immediately detectable with this beer and they are actually pleasant - fading to a nice, tangy ale flavor on the back of the tongue, crisp and tart. As most are noting, it does have a dry finish. As with most fruit beers, you either love it or you hate it. I actually like this brew more than I thought I would. nbutler11 (135), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Aug 2, 2008 Updated: Aug 3, 2008Poured a hay/almost hefeweizen color from the tap with a white head. The aroma and taste of berries dominates this beer, which finishes dry--much like a barleywine. Refreshing pour for the summer. funkdragon23 (1), Chicago, Illinois, USA does not count Jul 22, 2008 12oz. poured into a glass. Nice frothy head, the first sip was clean and, well, "raspberry-y". The fruitiness wore off as the glass emptied, distinguishing this ale from the Belgian lambics I’m better acquainted with. I very much enjoyed the subtlety of the raspberries here: more of a guest-star rather than the main attraction. Good balance of hoppy and malty with a pretty terrific finish. Went great with my gourmet burger. A unique, refreshing summer ale. I’d order this again, with or without a meal.
