Poured a dark mahogany with a thin off white head. The aroma is roasted malt. The flavour is medium bitter with a malt liqourice slight creamy coffee palate with a short bitter finish.

Bottle. Pitch black with dark brown, small head. Rich cacao aroma with chocolate, and roasted malt. Black chocolate, cacao, coffee, roasted malts, hops and dark fruits on taste. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied and medium carbonation. Hoppy finish with cold coffee, cacao and milk chocolate. Easy smooth porter.

Bottle at Llama Tooth.
Appearance: Pitch black body with a dense brown head.
Aroma: Cocoa with and earthy hoppiness and light roasted malts. Good aroma strength.
Taste: Cocoa and roasted malts with a mild piney and earthy bitterness. All three flavors are balanced nicely with some coconut on the back end. Coffee lingers.
Palate: Medium bodied, moderately carbonated.
Overall: Good hoppy porter, really brings the elements of the two styles together.

Reserve (indeed, it is not on the front lines like BLATZ), Black (true it is dark like a womans soul) Ale (not a lager). So truth in advertising, or WHAT? Could see pounding a few of these on the holidays and telling a few "truths" at the family dinner: like why is Uncle Mike such a lick knob?, or asking "Why is Blatz SO superior to EVERY OTHER BEVERAGE OF ALL TIME!?" It’s true, I am silly like that. So grab some Blatz for your old alcoholic self and let these sit in the icebox waiting your so-called "sophisticated" friends. Than you can relax in the knowledge of your own immense superiority and prepare to unleash your Blatz soaked WISDOM unto the unsuspecting rabble that you call your "friends"! Viva l’Blatz!

Pours very thick, with very little carbonation, little brown head, black liquid. Aroma is intensely malty, with caramel, chocolate, vanilla, coffee and clove. Full body, creamy thick mouthfeel, low carbonation, long bitter finish. Taste is initially sweet and turns into intensely bitter, with roasted coffee notes. Very complex and amazingly balanced.

Very good porter, dressed in an imperial stout, with a marked character to roasted malts defined by the coffee and chocolate notes, both in nose and mouth. The best is their looking -that deep brown head!!- and the full body, strong but not aggressive. Great, nice porter, but I still prefer other ones, like Tsarina Esra.

12 oz. bottle, sent from robloc303 (thanks a lot, Rob), pours a jet oily black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted malt, earthy hops, and fruity sweet caramel - doesn’t strike me as a porter, but some fruity sweet black strong ale. Flavour is somewhere in between - certainly not a typical porter - brining out notes of dry cocoa, fruity notes, and caramel. Decent hopping as well. Quite robust and full-bodied. A bit too fruity and syrupy for my taste, but still enjoyable. Decent stuff, but way overrated.
