Bottle - thanks, J! Pours nearly black, minimal head. Roast, chocolate and coffee aroma with a little cardboard thrown in. Taste: moderate sweetness, light roast bitter finish. Medium body, soft carbonation, texture is slick but a little thin. Overall: I’m surprised they call this a porter, but to each his own, especially when it comes to arbitrary classification boundaries.

So after almost two years since I have tasted it on tap at Csakajósör, finally ran into a bottle of this beer at the same bar too. Pours black with a near red foam, this beer mesmerises me with heavy roasted chocolate, almond and surprisingly a hint of coconut aromas. Body is heavy as well, kinda espresso-like; it lefts you with a very dry dance of flavours derived from the roasted malts and hops. A true classic obviously, and according to the head of Csakajósör, new kegs are going to arrive soon.

12 oz. bottle from Total Wine, Virginia Beach, VA. Pours very dark brown, almost black, with a short tan head. Aroma of rich roasted espresso, smoke, and licorice. The flavor features expected dark chocolate and espresso flavors upfront but nearly shares the stage with the anise and light floral hops that are on the finish. Medium bodied. This is a world class porter.

12oz bottle - pours black with brown head. Nose is nutty chocolate with coffee nearby. Sip intensifies the roast.

Pours black from the bottle with a small tan head. Aroma of chocolate. Flavor of roasted chocolate and roasted malts and a bit of licorice, and bitter like baking chocolate. Medium mouthfeel. Bitter finish.

Massive dark beer with a thick brown whipped-cream-head. The aroma has lots of chocolate, but at a closer "look" you find licorice, a heavy roast, burned sugar and a slight smoke too. The taste is very chocolaty at first, but fades to more coffee and burned notes. Very powerful and delicious after the first couple of seconds. For some reason i expected a rather hoppy, light porter, but i was wrong!
