355 ml bottle. Black color with a nice thick brown head. Aromas of bitter chocolate and coffee initially with some burnt and roasted notes following. Taste was dark chocolate, coffee, some burnt sugar and earthy hops. Maybe some dark fruits too. Aftertaste was bitter and sticky. Light to medium body with low carbonation.

Botella. Porter equilibrada, aroma a cafè i xocolata. Gust torrat al principi obrint-se i deixant una amargor floral a la gola. Òptima

Pours very dark brown. Medium to large frothy brown head, lasting with good lace. Aroma is rich, dark chocolate, licorice, coffee. Dark, burnt, and roasty. Flavor is less chocolatey than nose, instead, much more hard roasted, burnt, ash. Soft Medium body. Very Firm bitterness in the finish, probably too much for my liking, sort of ashy piney.

Aroma-roasty, black licorice, cocoa. Taste is similar to aroma, very bitter finish.

Bottle at Euston Tap, London on 28 February 2014. Poured black with a thick, dense tan head and great lacing. Aroma of burnt sugar, coffee and dark malts. Initial flavour had a mild acidity to it, which was off-putting for a second or two, but then dissipated, to be replaced by treacle, roasted malt and tobacco. Mouth feel was nice and thick, with some noticeable carbonation. Finish was mildy smokey, with roasted malt, espresso and dark fruit sweetness.

12oz bottle poured into a goblet. Dark, and for the fun of it I shined a 310 lumen flashlight through it and no light was seen through the beer. That might not mean anything but it was neat. Strong sweet(?) aroma that I find pleasant. Not much of a head and what there is , is not there for long, Taste is a bitter dark chocolate flavor and for me that’s all I get. I don’t think this is really a porter and if it is its kind of disappointing so I’ll stick to calling it a black/dark ale, If it was thicker I might considerate a stout. but its not. Overall its not to bad but if I want to drink something that has the appearance of anti-matter. I might choose something else.

Poured from a bottle with a dark brown color with a foamy tan head. Has a coffee and chocolate aroma, and taste is also coffee and chocolate, though with a bitter finish. Has a nice medium body feel. This has a stout feel and flavor, but without the roasted malts. Probably one of my favorite porters.

Bottle as ’Reserve Special Black Bier Ale’, a cream colour unlike the picture on RB, complete with cartoon horse, no date or details of ABV. Pours black with a very small, disappearing head. Aroma - initially molasses, slightly sour, coffee and liquer. Settles on chocolate and nutella. Good - inviting. Body is medium, smooth, not foamy, carbonation is low. Taste - rounded malts, a touch of molasses sweetness, finishes tangy and dry. Smooth, light flavour. One word sums up the beer - ’smooth’. Very, very good porter.

Of the best porters I tasted. Rich taste of coffee and chocolate, with a nice mouthfeel due to the heavy roasting.
