pours unclear dark brownn with a small reviving light beige head leaving little lacing. torrefied wheat, roasted malts - some smoky notes, tobacco, strong bitter coffee, very dusty, awkward fruitiness - melons, resin. light carbonation, light body, assertive if not slightly harsh resinous-coffee finish. above average porter.

Pours near black, finger thick, creamy khaki head, nice lacing. Aroma black malt, earthy, bit of smoke, slight burnt sugar. Taste scorched malt, burnt sugar, smokey, earthy, almost charcoal, a bit of caramel and bitter sweet chocolate to balance it out. Mouthfeel fuller body, lower carbonation, slight roast astringency, dry finish. Overall great beer, very complex roasted malt flavors, enough caramel and chocolate flavors to balance, perfect amount of hops to add to flavor without being overpowering, possibly the most balanced "dark, beer I’ve ever had, while maintaining complexity.

Bottle pour. Many similarities with their Thirsty Trout porter. Dark full body with a thin tan head. Intense cocoa and slightly smoked malts. Smooth mouthfeel with a good amount of bitterness. Lots to like here.

Had on tap in Ann Arbor at a place with 4 beers on tap one of which was bud light. That’s what happens when you are 45 minutes from the brewer. Pours very dark, with brown head. Aroma is roasty malt with cocoa. Medium big mouthfeel. Flavor is malt sweetness up front, then roasted malt and cocoa. Good beer. Totally stumbled onto this one, life is good :)
