Very Well Done BeerBunker (607), Burbank, Illinois, USA Jan 2, 2009 12oz bottle. Poured black with a tan head. Aroma is of roasted malt, chocolate, oat, and smoke. Taste is of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and oat. Has an underlying smoky taste. Nice lingering alcohol bite. Thick, creamy mouthfeel. A definite sipper. Very good. timfoolery (482), California, USA Dec 30, 2008 DTM scored this one in trade, and we aged it for a few months before drinking (mainly because we still have too many to drink). In any case, this one had flavors of chocolate and coffee, mostly chocolate. Not the smoothest as there was some sourness and unbalanced something to it. DTM (541), Winters, California, USA Dec 22, 2008 Bottle from a trade with St. Fun. Poured a black color with a tan head. Smelled of roasted malts. Definately had the flavor of roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. I little harsh on the palate to rate it with the elite, but still a great beer. HonkeyBra (1279), Lemont, Illinois, USA Dec 19, 2008 Deep dark blackish color with tan head. Aroma of chocolate and roasted malts. Roasty flavor, with coffee, smoke, chocolate, and a bit of sourness. Pretty solid, pretty awesome. drfabulous (1213), Columbia, Missouri, USA Dec 17, 2008 Oil can black. Rich tones of darkness. Lots of body and chocolate. Sweetness lingers but it finishes with a tart taste. Porter? No, it is a stout. Come on. gbdub (73), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA Dec 14, 2008 Nearly opaque brown-black with a thin brown head. Dark roast coffee and chocolate aroma - malty and smoky. Chocolate and especially coffee dominate the strong flavor, with smoke and a little hops lingering on the finish. Medium body. Excellent. Strykzone (1459), Wood River, Illinois, USA Dec 13, 2008 A nice black beer with a head that is reddish at times. It soon fades to a very thin layer and a small ring. Roasted notes, chocolate, and a bit of smoke define the aroma. Flavor is rich chocolate and premium coffee. Some dark fruit and mild bitterness, as well. Delicious and big, especially for a porter. Big, robust, and delightful.
