BleacherBum (176), Blowing Rock, North Carolina, USA May 3, 2007 Big dark pour with aroma of big roasted malt and coffee.....mmmmmm. Very rich with maybe a hint of dark chocolate. Very nice. The flavor is very roasty with more chocolate and coffee, with hints of vanilla. Also some wood and elements of toast. Very very nice. Relatively low carbonation combine with a light bitter ending, making this a well-rounded porter. Excellent stuff that could be sipped on all night long. GeneralGao (3051), Iowa City, Iowa, USA May 2, 2007 12 oz bottle. Poured an opaque black color. head was two fingers high and tan. Smelled of molasses and roasty malt with a touch of milk chocolate. Slightly sweet and very roasty on the tongue with flavors of dark chocolate and burnt stick. Finish was roasty and bitter. Pretty good. incutrav (576), Woodbury, Minnesota, USA Apr 18, 2007 Nothing wrong with this porter, but just tasted a lot like many other porters i have had latley, nothing really stands out, but solid non the less, easy drinking, nothing overpowers. Just bitter enough... holdenn (1431), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 9, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours dark brown black with a tan head. Strong nose on this one roast coffee, licorice, fruit, and alcohol. Roast chocolate flavors similar to the nose a bitter sweetness and the lingering flavor of dry coffee beans. Tasty brew. kmweaver (2396), Sebastopol, California, USA Apr 6, 2007 12oz bottle, courtesy of artusory. Thanks, Ryan! I’ve been really impressed with the Dark Horse beers; this one is no exception. Pours a dark black center; fluffy, medium-brown head with great retention and intricate lacing that coats the inside of the glass - a beautiful looking pour. Very generous aroma: sweet nougat and caramel up-front, with a steady backdrop of milk chocolate and vanilla. Medium-to-full, roasted mouthfeel: relaxed carbonation, keeping this beer tremendously drinkable; plenty of roasted malts and nougat; creamy caramel and vanilla; the taste is more sweet than roasted, but shows a great balance and density; hints of bitter citrus. I could sip this all night. Lengthy, bitter chocolate and citrus finish. jason (1620), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 4, 2007 Bottle thanks to Sliffy. Poured a dark black body with thin head. Aroma was of sweet chocolate (mmmmmm!). The flavor did not disappoint from the aroma. Bitter (in a good way), with some chocolate notes and some sweet malt. Very smootha nd well balanced. Listed at 7.5% but it didnot seem that way at all. Damn good Porter! robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA Apr 1, 2007 Black Color with Tan Ring. Heavy Coffee Roasts and Chocolate on the Nose. Deep Bittering Malt...Due to Coffee Roasts...Some Nice Semi-Sweet Chocolate. Bitter Dry Aftertaste. lewis13 (49), Kokomo, Indiana, USA Mar 31, 2007 Bottle...dark with little to no head.
