| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 19, 2005 deep dark brown color. rich tan head. Aroma faint, but roasty and chocolate. Flavor is thin up front developing into a full somewhat roasty but mostly bitter punch. A little more harsh of a porter than I am used to. beerguy101 (3878), Newark, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 18, 2005 This porter pours an eclipse black color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is chocolate, roasty nearly burnt malts and coffee. A medium to full bodied porter. Malts are very roasty, nearly burnt with lots of chocolate and coffee flavors. Slightly spicy hops. Smooth taste. Lots of roasty flavors. Found this beer buried in the back of the fridge, a pleasant surprise. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is bitter. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 12, 2005 Pitch black colored with a foamy brown head. Hard roasted aroma with coffee and liquorice. Strong and warming from the alcohol. Dry coffee and roasted flavor, biding on the tongue with a sour edge from the roasted malt. A bit short in the finish, but all in all a lovely beer! atpayne (615), Zionsville, Indiana, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Nov 29, 2005 Pours thick black with small but compact brown head. Roasted and chocolate malts and a hint of coffee in the aroma. Very bold, nice assortment of aromas. The initial flavor is an up front malt sweetness, and were it not followed by a solid roasted and coffee malt and a coffee and hop led bitterness, it would be too sweet. Fortunately the mentioned malts and bitterness give it a very nice ballance. As it warms it gets a more gritty roasted malt but continues with the strong sweetness. Nice finish, mostly leaving a roasted flavor in the mouth. badnewsbeers (1026), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 21, 2005 Good roasty, bitter chocolate and molassas nose. Black as night, thick lace but no head. Rich, dark malt bombard your palate, huge but balanced. I’m not the biggest porter fan but this is one big porter, its nice when you can sip on a beer and wait a minute and the flavor is still with you. This beer could handle some age and thats what I intend to do.
