Pours close to black with a small dark orange head. Aroma is wonderful - roasted and creamy with vanilla, chocolate, anise and other spices - smells like dessert in a glass. Starts out rich and medium bodied with burnt roasted malt and some some and hoppy spice. The finish has lots of spicy hops and tons of roastedness. On the finish the mouthfeel is much lighter. Very nicely done beer. patrick767 (2066), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 26, 2006 draft at the brewpub - Pours black with a medium, enduring tan head that leaves great lacing. Roasted malts dominate the aroma and lead into a very nice roast flavor with some coffee flavors coming through. A full body and oily mouthfeel slides into a moderately hopped finish. cheapdark (2050), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA

Pours like an imp stout, smells like a good imp stout. Tasted is roasted, burned and forward. Like any other impy stout. Must be in the wrong style category. Gunk on bottom of bottle, yum. Big impression with a bitter finish. wew Snojerk321 (2038), San Diego, California, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 8, 2008 Bottle, thanks to CaptainCougar. Pours opaque brownish black with a lacy dark tan head. Pine and sweet chocolate aroma with a touch of coffee. Medium body and light carbonation. Sweet taste of coffee, chocolate, molasses. Roasty espresso, smoke and pine finish. A really nice beer, but guys, this is not a porter. Not even a robust porter. What you have here is a sweet stout, or maybe even a foreign stout. Not complaining, I’m just sayin... Roasty, bourbony aroma with a background of fudge. Big carbination, a big, huge roast character. Somewhat smokey, extremely roasty and an ending of bitter chocolate. A little milky too...it would be better with less carbination. cbkschubert (2031), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 26, 2006 12 oz. bottle via trade with 1Fast STi - Pours a deep dark brown color with a nice tan head. Spotty lacing. Has a nice coffee, chocolate aroma. Has a strong roasted malt flavor. Leaves a dry, bitter aftertaste. Medium body. As porters go, this one is a little too bitter and dry for my liking. Still, a good beer overall. Thanks Blake. sliffy (2012), Columbus, Ohio, USA
