12 oz bottle thanks to acknud. Pours much darker than expected, almost black in body with a small cocoa head. Very nice aroma of milk chocolate and fruity red apples. Medium body with subdued carbonation. Taste has a bitter bite from dark roasted malts. Pine hops also in play and a nice addition of red apple fruitiness. Very bold porter that is very complex and drinkable.

Tasted 7/11/08. 12oz bottle. Dark brown hue with Spiraling layer of khaki head. Rich roasty nose. Cocoa and coffee. Mildly smokey and leather. Earthy with subtle esters. Medium to full bodied with a big roasty mouthfeel. Rolls between tart and bitter with an initial sweetness. Molassis and bitter coffee. Mild effervescence. Maybe a touch too burnt. Too bitter. Good hoppy character that I assume adds to the bitter palate. Mildly cloying finish that leaves a tingling bitterness and astringency on the back of the tongue. Solid!

Pours a dark brownish black with a nice thick tan brown head. Aroma is a bit smoky but mostly rich roasted malt, very strong and sweet. Flavor is just as rich from start to finish. Mostly dark roasted malts and bitter chocolate/coffee with some smokiness in the finish. Nice mouth feel. Thick and full body. Great all around porter, delicious balance of the sweet and the bitter with the smoky flavors.

12 oz. bottle - thanks to pepsican for the trade; pours dark brown with thin head; roasty bitterness on the nose and drinks with a dry finish; great nose overall; creamy chocolate flavors; another great porter from the midwest; those folks know what they are doing out there

Bottle from pepsican. Thanks dude! Aroma of dark bittersweet chocolate and a ton of roast and a minute amount of dark fruit. Pours black with a brown head and great lacing. Initial flavor is of bittersweet chocolate. That is followed by a ton of roasted and burn malts that almost give it a light smokey effect. The hops are earthy and round this one out nicely. Smooth with a lingering roasty effect. Really freaking good. I want more of this stuff.

Very chocolaty porter. I almost could see this being a stout, it seems too smooth to be a porter. The lack of robustness really helps this go down. Another winner from Dark Horse.
