COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rod is a refreshing, medium bodied red ale brewed with aphrodisiac herbs for woman and men alike. Brewer Russ Beattie was working on his own version of Sex Panther, using passion flower, epimedium, damiana, and ginko to elevate the levels of spring time friskiness and brewmaster Aaron Morse decided that the best way to spread the love was via Rod.

At the brewery during RBSG 2010. The first sips were used to cleanse my mouth after a glass of Plead the 5th. Light red brew with a light tan head and wispy lacing. Tasty stuff and I want to stay here and drink myself into oblivion. The aroma is cool (just read the description of this beer and there’s a bunch of weird things tossed in - might explain the 7 hour raging hard on I had..) Plenty of citrus, touch earthy, floral hops, caramel and sweet lemon and mysterious spices that are mild. Tasty of course. Great taste. Light pine, bottom end sweetness, candy, loads of sweet citrus, red candy, dark fruits and the tastiest grapefruit ever. Light malts and stellar hops. Kyle loved sucking my Rod back.

Reviewed from notes. On tap at Dark Horse. Pour brings a rusty caramel color with a bit of a head and not too much lacing. Nose is lift citrus and floral hops with a bit of earth.and malt. Taste is biscuity malt and mild hops. Decent bitterness in the feel. A pretty good beer all around, but not my favorite of the day. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 11-09-2010

Deep amber pour. The nose is softly herbal with a kind of odd, light bitterness. It seems quite indistinct.

Pours a golden red color with white head. Nice lacing. Mild aroma, malts and some flowers. Taste is a really nice blend of malts and hops. Ends more bitter than malty.

The herbal additions actually add together with the hops to give a really nice floral nose on this one. Taste is moderately sweet, moderately bitter (some vegetal astringency, but it’s light), lots of flowers and fresh herbs, plenty of sugary caramel.

Man, this is killer brew. Served with a nice, thick, creamy, foamy, frothy, very light tan head that lasts a while, and lots of lace. Color is a hazy, amber red. Aroma was malt n hop. Flavor is an excellent blend of malts with a little roasty, tad fruity, chewy hop, a little dry. Body is just right for this beer: full mouth, perfect carbonation. Finish is like flavor and of medium long lenght and little if any alcohol. Woulda rated the nose better but my snooter don’t work so well.

On tap at Dexters in Madison, WI, pours a clear dark amber with a tan fizzy head, aroma is farily faint but you can get some malt and bread notes in it, flavor is of sweet malt with a kick of hops in the finish, I enjoyed this one.
