RAYBOY01 (1623), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 19, 2008 Very nice surprise on tap at Flossmoor Station. The pour is pretty...crystaline red with robust head. The nose was a strong herbal hoppiness and roasted caramel. These aromas pretty much prefigure the flavor. Not very exciting, but damn drinkable and refreshing. I’d have liked it a lot better if I hadn’t worn such snug jeans...I had to back out of the bar when I left.
General66 (93), Streator, Illinois, USA Aug 25, 2008 Had a glass of this on tap at the Blind Pig in Champaign. I have had a handful of Dark Horse brews, and was excited to see this on the menu. Came out a deep mahogony color with a very frothy one finger width white head. The aroma consisted of a lot of hops with a floral background. Tasted of a lot of caramel malts and hops with a interesting roasty malt character. Finished smooth with a lot more flavors coming out in the end. This was a very tasty brew! I am glad that I had the opportunity to try this one! kieleszd (83), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Jul 22, 2008 This one is a bit heavier than the description tells, it heads into the 9.5% ABV. Very warming imperial red. Taste of subtle hops and roasted malts. As for the aphrodisiacs, I don’t know if they work but I had a great night. Tmoney99 (3550), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jul 20, 2008 Draft at Hopcat. Poured hazy brown color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted malt, hoppy and herbs aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Interesting complex beer and I hope the stimulative factors do not work, I am traveling from home. dm9831 (587), Monee, Illinois, USA Jul 13, 2008 draft at flossmoor station. pors dark red with off-white head. aroma of hops and malt (mild and airy). flavor is hoppy and spicy, with a touch of caramelly creaminess. i can’t pick out any specific spices, but their supposed aphrodisiac qualities were completely lost on me. maybe i shouldn’t drink so many. jeffwilliams11 (257), hooterville, Michigan, USA Jul 10, 2008 on tap at hopcat. billed as an imperial red, but at 6%, not really that ’imperial.’ quite tasty though. hoppy standard amber ale, with a slightly thicker malt backbone. really drinkable.
