COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rod is a refreshing, medium bodied red ale brewed with aphrodisiac herbs for woman and men alike. Brewer Russ Beattie was working on his own version of Sex Panther, using passion flower, epimedium, damiana, and ginko to elevate the levels of spring time friskiness and brewmaster Aaron Morse decided that the best way to spread the love was via Rod.

On tap at the Dark Horse Brewery... refreshing and enjoyable. Pours a deep amber hue with a beige head. Nose focuses on the maltier side with roasted brown sugar, caramel and a slightly aromatic hopped finish that seems to incorporate a hint of these other spices. Taste and palate remains with the sweet malt characters, then finishes with a crisp, slightly spiced hop finish that never really becomes bitter. Overall, an enjoyably refreshing amber perfect for these spring days that keep getting hotter. Not sure if I’m feeling any sexier than usual... maybe I need to have another!

great balance of hops and malt. nice citrus flavor. pours a nice amber colour. smoothh palate. easy drink, overall good beer!

On tap at the French Laundry. Looked and smelled like a typical Amber, but the taste had an herbal funkiness that appealed to me. More importantly however, it worked as an aphrodisiac - my wife and I did it twice (once together)! Thanks Dark Horse!

This one is a bit heavier than the description tells, it heads into the 9.5% ABV. Very warming imperial red. Taste of subtle hops and roasted malts. As for the aphrodisiacs, I don’t know if they work but I had a great night.
