3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 deyholla (3528) - Waukesha, USA - JUL 27, 2009
Tap at Ashley’s during Ann Arbor Brew Week Pub Crawl. Poured a dark brown (almost black) with an khaki head. Aroma consisted of dark fruits with malty undertone. There was also the slightest presence of spices and flora. Flavor began with sweet malty notes with a slight sour note but becomes darker with a caramel flavor entering and a slight bitterness.

Draft at Craft Ale. Poured dark brownish coppery with nose of caramel malt, earthy hops. Tasted like a vienna with caramel and hops, medium palate heft, not terribly complex, and I got very little in the herb arena here. An aphrodisiac beer named Rod. Cute. Do it the right way and call it Rock Hard Purple-Helmeted Invader next year.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 jeff789 (1278) - West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 4, 2011
Lightly hazy dark ruby, minimal head, no lacing... malty lightly herbal aroma, not very hoppy, has a light fruitiness... herbal/spicy, malty, lightly lively, ok flavor, but this has almost a lightly carbonated herbal tea quality to it...
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Lubiere (6988) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 22, 2011
A hazed dark amber ale with a thin lacing mocha head. In aroma, sweet butterscotch with fruity esters, light dark fruit notes, some woody notes. In mouth, a sweet vanilla fudge, creamy maple, not bad. On tap at Sunset Grill, Sept. 11 2011.

On cask at the Tipsy Cow. Hazy reddish amber with next to no head. Aroma is oddly spiced with some sweet malt behind it – mild and a touch of hops. Taste is pretty mild with some herbal spices, malt and light hops. As for the aphrodisiac qualities, perhaps I had a few too many that night, but I was not a wood-aged specimen.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 paintedmaple (123) - Fenton, Michigan, USA - AUG 2, 2011
On tap at the French Laundry. Looked and smelled like a typical Amber, but the taste had an herbal funkiness that appealed to me. More importantly however, it worked as an aphrodisiac - my wife and I did it twice (once together)! Thanks Dark Horse!
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Hair6a11 (1021) - Illinois, USA - JUL 22, 2011
On tap; pour is murky dark brown/amber. Its heavily carbonated with an off white head that does retain well; sticky lacing in this glass. The nose is spicy, floral, herbal, with a bit of caramel. This brew is bitter, slightly sweet, the flavor profile seems a bit messy, yet it still does feel ok to me. I wont sit here and pretend like I found passion flower here, but you get the general herbal, floral elements combined with a simple red.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 pellegjr (297) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 17, 2011
Draft @ Dark Horse, hazy mahogany w/ thin head, lightly herbal aroma, ruddy malt flavor w/ even bitterness throughout
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Vertical Bacon Strips (1698) - Asshat, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 21, 2011
At the brewery during RBSG 2010. The first sips were used to cleanse my mouth after a glass of Plead the 5th. Light red brew with a light tan head and wispy lacing. Tasty stuff and I want to stay here and drink myself into oblivion. The aroma is cool (just read the description of this beer and there’s a bunch of weird things tossed in - might explain the 7 hour raging hard on I had..) Plenty of citrus, touch earthy, floral hops, caramel and sweet lemon and mysterious spices that are mild. Tasty of course. Great taste. Light pine, bottom end sweetness, candy, loads of sweet citrus, red candy, dark fruits and the tastiest grapefruit ever. Light malts and stellar hops. Kyle loved sucking my Rod back.
