COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Why is the Grim Reaper holding a mailbox? Well, that mailbox is from a dead Dark Horse beer. The Grim Reaper better know as "Death" was quite fond of our classic Sapient Summer Wheat Ale. When we changed it into a Belgian Style Triple, Death thought it would only be appropriate to bring something from that beer into this beer. So he picked the mailbox, and we weren’t about to argue with him. You can say what you want about him, but that Death sure has a big heart. So anyway...we brewed this beer with a Trappist yeast strain so it is very traditional. The flavors are incredibly complex with notes of mild fruit and finishes with a bit of clove. Although this beer is higher in alcohol it is very smooth and finishes dry on the palate.

bottle brought back from MI. odd little thing. sort of tea-colored, dark for a triple, with some lacing following a thin tan head. lots of unexpected aromas here -- wet earth, leather, and, yes, asparagus being preeminent among them. interesting yeasty phenolics on the palate, and a smokiness I’d liken to lapsang souchong -- definitely a tea-like character. not bad, but not your standard triple by any means.

on tap at beergeek bar in prague. clear golden with a thin but lasting head; aroma of pear schnapps and candi sugar; somewhat bready, honeydew melon, whiteboard marker; perhaps a bit overhopped for the style but still quite pleasant

Bottle. Pours a very hazy gold color with a minimal white head. Aroma of banana, yeast and pepper. Detected a mix of clove, spices and ripe fruit with a little alcohol bite. Sticky malty texture with average carbonation.

Poured a hazy golden amber. Little yeast cake left chunked in the bottle. Not the huge first bite I expect from a Tripel. Pretty mellow with a sweet clear orange that stands out. Not near what I expected, however a decent drinking Tripel. Restated, probably won’t seek out out as a first choice when looking for a Tripel, but certainly wouldn’t turn down a fresh pint.

Pours a honey amber color with a small head. Aroma of fruits like banana, cloves and some alcohol. Taste is more fruits, some bitterness and more alcohol. Average beer that needs something else.

On tap at BST. Cloudy gold pour with a white head. Belgian yeast, candy, banana and spice in the aroma and taste. Very nice true to form tripel with the complexity you would expect from the style.
