BlackForestCO (463), Fort Collins and Black Forest, Colorado, USA May 2, 2008 Bottle shared by Crosling. Poured a clear golden color with a moderate off-white head that left a slight amount of lacing. Aroma of yeast, bubble gum, and some light fruit. Flavor consists of a lightly sweet entry that leads into a yeasty middles with hints of bubble gum, with some light undertones of banana and clove and a weird bitter finish. Decent, but it isn’t something I would drink again.
igneous1 (1360), Davenport, Iowa, USA Jul 3, 2008 yellowish-golden color, moderately cloudy, thin almond-colored head. aroma is very fruity, lots of lemon, some caramel, some alcohol, and decent spice (slightly bubblegummy) notes. flavor is very yeasty, with some spiciness. Not nearly as much fruitiness, but instead, a lot more alcohol. Hudspart (281), Hudsonville, Michigan, USA Jun 21, 2008 Bottle: Pours light amber with no head. Aroma of oranges, honey and floral hops. Flavor of fruits and hops along with a hint of the alcohol. Very drinkable and good. benshipper (1), , Michigan, USA does not count Jun 20, 2008 12oz. bottle. Pours a goldeny haze. The aroma is the best part of this beer: the whole nose is filled with the smell of wild flowers, orange zest, honey. Tastes of orange, coriander, honey, sweet malt. Lingers very long on the palate, beginning with flowers and ending with only a malty taste of alcohol.
Overall pretty good tripel, despite the heavy lingering alcohol taste. Rciesla (674), Brick City, New Jersey, USA Jun 18, 2008 Drank this on draft at the brewery in the summer of 07 at Dark Horse. Pours a golden orange body with a fluffy white head. Aroma and flavor is hoppy with some notes of belgian spice, the etoh comes through fairly noticeably. Not a huge fan. csbosox (917), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Jun 14, 2008 12oz bottle that has been cellared for close to a year. Goldish orange color with a pretty little head. Aroma is a flour slurry, light fruit, flowers, sweet, lightly kilned malt, a touch of lemon, and some clove. Taste is sweet malt, light fruit, readily apparent alcohol, & pepper. Very "big" in the mouth, even into the finish though it is tempered by the alcohol.
