3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 DrnkMcDermott (2621) - Downers Grove, Illinois, USA - JAN 29, 2007Bottle from Dark Horse. Sweet & fruity smell while pouring. Starts out light, but darkens in my snifter to a darker pils color with a Bell’s-like crowd of floaties. Refreshing sourness, more Berliner than brett, touch of white wine driness. An excellent drink. Don’t know that it’d stand well next to a real Trappist Ale, but this is something I could drink every day.

Bottle. Muddy amber with a short, foamy white head. Aroma is rather floral with strong yeast notes, fruit and straw. Taste is slightly floral with yeast notes, ripe fruit, grains, sweet malt and soft spice. Body is medium with a faint carbonation. Ends with more yeast notes, malt, soft grains, straw, ripe fruits and floral notes.

bottle. cloudy gold small head. sweet tropical/peach nose. spicy, clovey flavors, a little residual malt sweetness, peach. low carbonation for the style, but it drinks well. i seriously don’t believe its 9.5%. i like it a lot though. its different with it’s sweet vanilla like cakey yeast and low carbos.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 wxman (1173) - O’Fallon, Illinois, USA - MAY 2, 2013
Pours a hazy orange with a nice fluffy white head that remains. Aroma is rock candy and spices. Taste is sweet caramel malt, mixed fruit, a bit of burnt sugar, wild yeast sourness and hop bitterness. Alcohol is evident, but not over the top. BTW, their website says the ABV is 8.5% vs. 9.5%. True to the style and quite good.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Elwood (2493) - Leesburg, Virginia, USA - APR 7, 2013
Serving: 12 oz. bottle obtained via trade. It pours a somewhat viscous orange with lots of yeasty sediment coming with. The nose is very sweet with slight yeast notes and lots of fruit. A little cloying on the tongue, there is a bit strawberry banana candy with a slight bitterness and heavy yeast representation. Not the smoothest foray into the style. A bit too sweet for my taste.

Draft @ Hoppy Loft.

Smell is very sweet BE yeast, candy sugar, white sugar, lightly booze, strongly sweet BE profile, fruity, touch spices,… Taste is sweet BE yeast, banana, quite over booze, white sugar, sweetly alcoholic, candy sugar, booze fruits and bitter esters, spices,… very BE. Hazy body. Certainly agreeable within the style.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Alextricity (177) - Chesterfield Twp., Michigan, USA - MAR 20, 2013
Appearance: Pours a very murky orange color ... TONS of sediment. No head, pretty much no lacing. About what’s expected of a tripel.
Smell: A lot of grapey smells. Secondary aromas consist of alcohol and malts, and maybe a touch of bananas as well.
Taste/feel: Wow. The alcohol’s not shy in this beer, as it hits me hard up front and on the finish. Initial taste is sweet with the fruits, and the finish is a bit bitter with some malts and the alcohol I mentioned. The feel is somewhat thin at first, but it thickens up a bit if you leave it on your tongue.
Overall, a very "different" tripel, and I love that. I’m used to the typical banana and clove flavors (to the point where I’ve often had some trouble deciphering between a Dunkelweizen and a Tripel), so this is a welcome change. The bit of tartness is also nice ... a wonderfully fruity, tasty beer.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 skoll (396) - Traverse City, Michigan, USA - MAR 19, 2013
Pours a dark gold color out of the bottle, very little head to it. Smell is sweet Belgian yeast and the taste is sweet caramel. A bit to malty, and has no hop qualities. Very little carbonation and the palate leaves something to be desired. Not a personal favorite but I have 5 more to get to like it.

tap. Amber with one finger head. Light sweetness. Belgian spice. Pretty good tripel.

Bottle pour hazy amber. Nose of malty sugar and some spice. Taste Belgian candy sugar, malt, and some peppery spice, but subtle.
