12 ounce waxed bottle poured into a teku. Pours a thick, syrupy black with a thin khaki colored head of foam. The aroma is big on vanilla, then I get definite sarsaparilla style root beer notes, then some bourbon. Taste is sweet and root beery and spicy. Thick on the palate. Delicious beer. More breweries should attempt something like this. All the samples I’ve had of root beer beers were great.

Bottle @ Richard’s Tasting. Black pour with a small khaki head. Some root beer, bourbon, and vanilla. Coriander, mint, and nuts. Plenty of roast and some dark chocolate, too. Weird flavor...kind of tastes like Pho broth and marzipan. Some coriander, bourbon, vanilla, and roasted malt. Sweet sugar, syrup, and dark chocolate. Not sure what to think about it, but I kind of like it.

12oz waxed bottle, thanks to Caterwaul for picking this up for me. Shared with Chudwick and AndyReynolds. Very dark black color. Thin brown bubbly head. Good dark brown color. Couple dots of lace. Awesome big vanilla, light herbal mild rootbeerish type flavor. Very unqiue aroma. Distinctly desert like flavors, rice crispie, french vanilla ice cream. Dark chocolate, milk chocolate. Good mild sweet taste, nice light warmth, no bite. Doesn’t really drink like 11%. Good smooth chewy body, nice creaminess, lighter carbonation. Great long sweet rich vanilla and dark chocolate aftertaste. Super stuff. Works fantastically. Almost like a rootbeer float.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle shared by the gracious DrSilverworm. Vanilla is the name of the game with tons of milk chocolate. Bourbon in the aroma only. No bite considering ABV. Is there lactose in this?

12oz bottle thanks to el doctor de Silverworm with the pants-wearing AndyReynolds. Vanilla for sure. Coffee and hazelnut or dark chocolate. Booze in the nose but not the mouth. Dryish. Sometimes the _____ bites you.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Special tap room at Dark Horse. The pour is jet black with a dark khaki head leaving incredible lace. The aroma is surprisingly sweet. Like a root beer like they say the namesake is. The flavor is beautiful. A nice vanilla accent on top of a root beer base and the alcohol is incredibly hidden. The mouth feel is perfect and the flavors are incredible. I love this beer!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle to taster (shared by brew3crew). Looks good; a viscous very dark brownish black with thin mocha head that dissipates into lacing fairly quickly. Smells of dark malt and sasparilla with mild notes of oak. Tastes like it smells with a solid mouthfeel. Not much of a bourbon presence, but unique and enjoyable.
