pours an opaque brown with a medium tan head. aroma is caramel malt and a little bread. Taste is really good. A hint of burnt toast, a hint of chocolate. creamy mouth feel. long slightly bitter finish. The alcohol is not obtrusive considering the high percentage. Really well done. Good beer!

Orange-brown pour, small off-white head. Aroma of minty dirty socks. Seriously. Flavor of nuts, raisins and mint. Bizarre.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark brown color with a medium sized, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, nuts, cocoa, and light smoke. Taste of the same, sweeter caramel malt, cocoa, roast, some alcohol in the finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a very dark brown that turns a hazy garnet under intense light. Below normal head volume, poor lacing and retention.
Very good nose of bready notes over caramel. Intensity is a bit light and fails to deliver the complexity needed for an outstanding aroma for this style. At room temperature, very light notes of dark fruit are present.
Light medium body that is smooth. Superb carbonation level that is matched very well for the body providing a palate tickling effervescent middle and a nice prickly burst in the finish.
The flavor profile is very good, but like the nose, it lacks complexity. Bready flavor with a bit of char permeates. The middle brings a light subtle bitterness that is very well balanced with a slightly burned sweet caramel note. Alcohol is completely covered, no small task for 9.75% ABV. The finish is a slow, slightly sweet, fade of bready (pumpernickel comes to mind) malts and a charred note.

I like this beer a lot... Itís pretty much a regular old scotch ale. Itís a little less sweet than dirty bastard but pretty much just as good.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
355 ml. bottle @ home. Purchased @ Struise Beershop in Bruges. BBF dates is smudges. Pours deep pomegranate brown copper with little tanned head. Nose is strong cough syrup, herbal, syrupy with varnish coated overripe dark fruits. Overly reminiscent of cough syrup for me. Taste is herbal cough syrup with light molasses, dash licorice, faint oxidation, dash varnish, varnish coated overripe dark fruits, alcohol soaked dark fruits, light burned mocha, leaves quite a bit of Belgian qualities. Low carbonation, syrupy, slick thin herbal. Overly reminiscent of cough syrup with varnish & Belgian accents for me, feels a bit aged. This flavor profile seems to belong more to the 80ís & 90ís rather than now. Passable for what it is but not really for me. It is partially enjoyable & not all bad but it isnít something that I would choose given prior knowledge & agreeable other options.
